Aimpoint ACRO red dot

I liked the first ACRO on my Benelli M4 Entry gun so much that I decided to put one in my SIG P320 X5 USW. The ACROs rock compared to a standard Reflex RDS such as the RMR or Leupold DPP. Not only are the ACROs the same approximate size as the Reflex sights, but the short "tube effect" is just enough to speed up dot acquisition times. As with any Aimpoint sight, the ACRO has been thoroughly tested and is ready for prime-time. Whereas most manufacturers test their sight durability with 9mm to 5K rounds (or so), Aimpoint tested the ACRO using .40 S&W and took it past 20K rounds without failure. The ACRO is ready for real world applications (not that I foresee any such need in my immediate future, mind you! )

the only downside to the Acro I've heard so far is battery life, it sucks. But the guys running them love them.
Bartok5 how long you had yours?

I've only had my first ACRO for about 3 months, so have not yet experienced a battery life--cycle. I,lllllĺĺļ FWIW, have heard that 6 months is realistic on a medium brightness setting...

What mounting plate did you end up using? Was any additional milling required or did it slot right into the RX footprint?

10 days is what my friends are seeing for runtime at a medium setting.
That doesn't make sense. Aimpoint advertises 1.5 years at setting 6 and at least 1 year at 7... and Aimpoint is known for giving accurate and relatively conservative battery estimate values.

Mine has been on since I received it on about April 18th, so three months now? Medium brightness, no signs of stopping. I think your friends' optics need to be replaced if that's the runtime they're seeing.

Or they're really leaving it at max brightness. Because Aimpoint does claim a few days of runtime on the brightest setting.

I can only pass on the info given to me by the guys running them on EDC rigs. They are not happy, and it's not a small number of people, current industry talk is rather lit on this subject right now, with Aimpoint apparently looking to make improvements.

I’ve heard bad things about the battery life. I would personally wait until they figured it out.

Currently have 4 X ACRO’s and my first two I have had since last September still on original batteries at setting 6, replaced 2 batteries on the others after being used as loaners to agencies, all of them have been stellar performers on handguns / shotgun / carbines etc

My next pistol will be an G45 with the MOS and a ACRO, with Ameriglo Suppressor low profile sights, after that it's all downhill. Once the battery issues are worked out? if there are any? iron sights on a pistol will be like a BUIS on a rifle, "just in case". Change the battery on your birthday or at your re-qual, and don't look back.

traitor, you won't wait for the sfp9 or?

Ya,you got me there,LOL, I was thinking "agency" good point though. However given the performance of my G19X, and depending on the price point it may be hard to stay loyal?
If the SFP9 came in a MOS and it was reasonable, that would be a hard choice?

That said, I'm guessing the G45 MOS is going to be here before the SFP9, so "it is what it is"
