Air Rifle Advise Needed!!!

Actually I could have sworn somewhere along this thread I mentioned it was a .22. Both of my .22 air rifles have about $500+ in modifications in them.

I know we're a gun forum here, but maybe you should sign up for an airgun forum sometimes. It's much easier to speculate rather than know something first hand.

I generally use the best pellets in mine,RWS,JSB,HN.
It will shoot 1 ragged hole at 20 yds rested. (900 fps at muzzle with 8.3 grn pellet around 14fpe)
I feel lucky shooting "minute of tin can" at 100 yds.(24'' drop from a 30 yd sight in)
I don't think I would try to shoot at anything living at 100 yds.

To the OP,
Shoot small game at any range you are confident you can hit a 1 inch circle target, almost every time.
I keep my shots under 40 yds.(I use a laser rangefinder)
Good luck with your new rifle.

By the way that pellet Rifle is NUTZS LMAO!

I would have probable bought it, if I saw that when I bought mine! Sweet Jesus!!!!)

If this rifle does not start behaving real soon its going back to Crosman for a replacement. I have dropped big game at over 600 yards so I know it isn't me!

You are right about the trigger, it sucks! Can it be adjusted?

Once you get the gun worked in it will be like a charm. I remember going through 500 pellets to get my guns grouping better. Also sent it into a fellow to tune it up as well. As others and myself have mentioned, check out the airgun forums, they are very informative.

Can it be set to 2 lbs. on the Crosman Nitro? Hate pulling shots because of the delay, if you know what I mean and I am sure that you do.

I can't even remember, I'd love to tell you something but it's been like 5 years and I have a horrible memory. It is much nicer than the original trigger though. There are a few guys that do custom parts here in Canada and can make you a great rifle.

Thanks, but I am not that serious about Air Rifles, more interested in 300 WM'S, 300 RUM'S and 7 MM RM'S. This little rifle is strictly a grouse rifle and pest control. its grouping a little better now, it fact it has eliminated a few pests today with body shots @ 10 yards, head shots at 25 yards soon enough lol.)

Pellets loose speed and hit power fast. 100 yards with 22 or .177 is not advisable for that reason. If it were me I would use a .22 rim fire or even better 17HMR. Leave the air rifles to 50 yards or even better down to 25 - 30 yards.

Well I got my new toy shooting 1" groups @ 10 yards and that is free hand. The more rounds I put through it the more accurate it is getting.

Now I am on a mission to group 1" at 25 yards and to discover which pellet works best out of this rifle. I am ordering Gamo Red Fire and JSB Match Exact Diabolo 8.44gr to start. I gotta admit shooting this air rifle is making me relive my childhood! lol

Thanks for all the help guys!)

i couldnt hit #### with my phantom (.22 springer)

i built a pumper (1389 stock, 2260 24" barrel, 1322 frame), steel breech with optic rail... that thing was a silent killer!

You get what you pay for.I'd wrap that POS around the nearest fence post.Buy a HW or a RWS/Diana and watch dime sized groups with the proper artillery hold. You don't sandbag or restrain a springer. It needs to be allowed to recoil freely.High velocity is a sales gimmick. What good is 1000fps if you can't hit nothing.Give me 700-800fps with a .22 springer and you're ready for SG under 20 lbs.I use a HW80 K /.22 with a Vortek kit and it is smooth. Harold

Can you shoot some groups with open sights rather than the scope? Air guns, especially springers, are very hard on scopes because of the way they recoil.

My money is on the scope or mounts.

"High velocity is a sales gimmick. What good is 1000 fps if you can't hit nothing." Sound advice. Spend the money on a quality air rifle.

Should have asked before I bought this rifle!(

When I was a kid using a pellet rifle and killing hundreds and hundreds of birds, it was only with open sights, never with a scope!
