Hey Guys;

"There is proof in the pudding..." Here are a couple pics of me and a friend rabbit hunting with my old Gamo Shadow .177 air rifle. Rabbits were shot with "Exact" pellets purchased from airgunsonly.com. These are ONE SHOT kills!!! Shots varied from roughly 10 meters to approximately 40 meters.

These rabbits were turned into rabbit pie by my wife, YUMMY!!! Enjoy the pics!

Cheers
Jay

Thanks Normark, and yes, I "feel" for the rabbits when they change white "too early"... But, I love rabbit pie, and "them's the brakes"!!! Nature sure is cruel sometimes isn't it?

Very nice Jay, sounds good too. I've shot a crow with my pellet gun and ONLY my pellet gun at approx 50 ft. head shot it was a do or die shot.....and he died. I have the picture here somewhere when I find it I'll post it. I shot it with a 795 Springmaster. I've never been able to get close enough when I am out gopher hunting to shoot one....yet.

Rabbit pie sounds good care to share a recipe?
I just got into guns and hunting this year I haven't gone out for rabbits because I don't know what to do with them I had roasted rabbit once when I was young and I remember it being greasy.

Hookturn, wild rabbits are not greasy! As for a recipe, it's dead easy...
(1) "Get" rabbit
(2) "Get" pre-made pie crusts...
(3) "Boil" rabbit in beef broth till it falls off the bone. Cool and seperate meat from bone.
(4) "Boil" a bunch of potato, you'll need 2 cups of it
(5) Mix 1 whole rabbit, chopped or minced up, and the potato & THE SECRET INGREDIENT, poultry seasoning (to taste...)
(6) Place rabbit/potato/poultry seasoning into pie shell, cover with other pie shell (secret time saving step)...
(6) Bake for 1 hour...

Enjoy!!!

Cheers

P.S. There is a wild game recipie section here on CGN... But, this is the FIRST recipie I've ever posted & it relates because I use my Air Rifle to "procure" the rabbits for meat pie for my wife to make!!!

What velocity do pellets travel at through your Gamo Shadow .177 rifle?
Can you hunt rabbit with anything less than 495 fps?

The Sportsmatch rings AKA Beeman along with other quality makes have an arrester pin in the rear ring that goes into a hole in your guns reciever. They don't move.........Harold

1000 feet per second... At least that's what it's rated at by Gamo. Depending on pellet weight etc, it's probably in the 850 to 900 fps range. I'm going to run it through a chrono in the summer, then I'll know for sure.

Rats are very hard to hunt, and even harder to kill. That shot - behind the ear is a proven CNS breaker. Funny enough, I just finished watching the movie shooter, when I saw this POS on my bird feeder. I actually shot him, killing him but didn't know that - because he didn't move after the first shot. Shot him again and he dropped like a sack of cement. Two hole about 4 mm apart behind the ear. Range - 33 Ft. ;)
