Ak-47?

AK is a Communist invention, doesn't matter how good or even if it excellent in accuracy, it would not been accepted by the west as a service rifles, the AK does lack in the Accuracy but does make up in the Reliable Department...

AK doesn't lack accuracy. If you think about AK-47 in 7.62x39 it's more accurate than M14 (7.62x51) or FAL in full auto. If you thinking about M16 in 5.56x45 you should compare it to AK of that era, which is AK74 in 5.45x39. AK-47 is popular in US only because Americans learn about it in Vietnam... but Vietnam got all kind of surplus (junk or not), but would never get the latest guns. The best always end up in USSR, while obsolete guns went to eastern and central Europe as well as Asia and Africa.

AK-74 is as accurate as AR-16 while much more reliable.

The only countries that didn't care about politics and went for AK were Finland (still using it) and Israel. Israel end up with M16 simply because US supplied them with rifle at cost of cheap surplus ($150 a rifle at current level). It was much more expensive for Israel to make their own AK than to buy 2 M16 (thanks to US taxpayers)...

Lot's of meaningless conjecture in this thread.

Forgive me, but I'm going to go with the opinions of the guys who've: used both, shot people with both and in one case - been shot.

I like the AR15-type platform.

Not that it matters one lick for the paper targets I encounter on a weekly basis. Under-penetration has never been an issue.

On a related note, how many here drive a LADA?

Team it up with a good head up display optic and decent ammo and you have one very accurate and formidable weapon for close up street to street fighting, 30 million+ can't be wrong, its longevity should tell you something.
It was built to fire in all conditions without foul ups, it does this better than most other weapons, I've had a top end reworked LSW SA80 cause me nothing but grief and resorted to using the AK47 on more than one occasions.
OK I hear you say the SA80 was crap and still is but is still used by the British Military along with other variants.

I am interested in knowing what Reaper and KevB's opinions are on the Galil...considerng that it is basically an AK clone but with numerous modifications etc. What amount of experience do you guys have with these guns in the field...or have you seen any IDF use them for comparison etc.

so an AK is a "vision of death"? whats an HK look like? the angel of hurt? or the AR is the demon spawn of uber goth?

no wonder most of the guns went prohib with ppl calling them sh*t like that

I guess My house is the death spawn horde house..since I have alot of AK's?

That would make you "The Dark Lord of Baby Killing Death Spawn Hordes"...or something

Caution-Im not Kevin

The Galil is an AK brought to its very best by the Yids of Israel

It has proper furniture (super plastic) proper length butt, proper (very good) sights, proper controls (thumb safety), and a trigger to DIIIIE for (practically match grade)

and it shoots for ever, 102% reliability

I've only played with Galil's in Canada - but I have some experience with the M21 Serb copy that float around the middle east - I find the stock too long in body armour - and the controls are not as ergonomic, add in the awkward method to attach obtics and I'm not overly impressed.

The worst is the left side safety lever works the wrong way from my muscle memory - and I can inadvertantly put the weapon on safe when I am trying to put it on semi...

You'd be a lot cooler if you were. You'd have more fanboys too.

So you can say Yids, but if I say Chink I get banned?

I said it in a nice way

I didnt say it was better than other platforms....I was saying its better than any other AK variant

And ya...the safety goes the wrong way

Dude -- not arguing ;)

Saw your reply after I hit send -- I agree it is nicer than the others

Kreb's Custom AK's down south are very nice versions (but big coin and can't come to Canada...)

The Yugo M70's from Century Arms are reliable, well made, cheap rifles. They only cost $400-$450 new here in the states. The Polish AK's from Vector and the SLR's built by Arsenal are great guns also.

I wasnt arguing neither...Gosh you sure are delicate:p

just thought it important to point out I was really only comparing Aks of different sorts and types

The Yugo ones are nice but not really 'better' than most other aks...As for the Arsenal ones Im hoping to get a few hundred of them to play with

This is my dad's Norinco Mak 90. It's an excellent gun. He bought it back in '93 for $250 and it only has like 200 rounds through it. It's too bad we can't import these anymore.
