Type 81 top and Chinese AK bottom, other than full auto option they both very similar. Honestly they appear equally as poopy as far as quality. Nonetheless, there is more value in the type 81 than many folks appreciate.

the AK piston / gas block really turns me on compared to the Type 81's...

This, originally the m78 is not chambered in 5.45, but you can use ak74 mag's with some mods, This one's chambered in 5.56, of course, mags are pinned to 5, but you wont have feeding issues if you load 5.56 in it. Closest thing to something in 5.45 here in Canada

For that matter you can take a valmet hunter and convert to 5.45 - great expense but if it's something you really need, the process is not super complicated.

To ASingh: everything is about money. If you have enough you can get an almost indistinguishable NR clone of a AK-74. (on a Valmet receiver)

For even more money and time (especially since a second job was mentioned) you can open up your own business with prohib privileges and a private range - enjoy your very own prohib gun in full auto... Ahem, for evaluation purposes for your business of course.

Either way, nothing is impossible if you put your time and money into it.
