AK47 or ...

So are you not allowed to even shoot an AK at a firing range?

What exactly is it about the AK that makes it prohibited?

We shot the AK in 5.56 at TSE in Calgary a few weeks ago. I'd be happy to have mine on the road again.. But there are definitely better guns in .223 and 7.62x39 out there... But as mentioned before "AK's are cool" ;)

As for surplus FN's ... I bought my Lithgow for $199 in Surrey BC ... They were cheaper than the Ishapore rifles... (at the time I thought I only would ever need one). The norinco AK's were always cheap and new in the crappy box.

this is a two way street... its either make semi ak's legal... or prohib the CZ 858... and trust me.. they wanna prohib the CZ... im already scared that im gonna have to dig a hole and hide mine..

ok i was too young when the ak made the prohib list. say they did reclassify the 858, would owners somehow be grandfathered much like a lot of lucky old farts are now?? sounds like a good reason to buy every gun you can get your hands on now lol

nice rifles!

I too am curious of the law regarding firearms that are as of now legal and non-restricted if they ban them and if they can just seize them or we get to keep them in a safe.

what a crappy thought!

OK - Im not sure if the MP4 video above got linked. But AKs are fun - especially when they work as designed...

Think... Norinco Type 97..... That might help answer your question

"We changed our minds...nope, its prohib. Please give them up for destruction"

I guarantee you the gov't does not feel like giving any more people Prohib status, for fear they might buy an AK or something interesting to add to their collection.

Does anybody think the AK-47 will ever be legal in Canada? They could just modify them to semi auto... pinned to 5 rounds, what is the difference between that and a cz-858?

Well, operation wise/internally, quite a big difference. Nothing is interchangeable.

Realistically? Cz858 is a puppy saver and defender of Canadian freedom, while the AK-47 is communist kitten killer that will bring on the coming of the Anti-Christ and apocalypse.... or something like that, according to the feds. ;)

Yeah i guess the AK hasn't had a very good image over the years.

Not anytime soon...our gun laws are based on ignorance and fear mongering, mostly by the political left and their media minions. More than a few reporters got coveted "communications" spokesman positions with the federal government/Liberal Party during or shortly after that time.

I always thought that a good topic for a Master's Thesis in Journalism or sociology would be a study of the effect/role that the media had in getting both C-17 and C-68 passed, and their role in manipulating public opinion.

It is a real shame that good law abiding folk are denied the ability to enjoy firearms, all firearms.

Just before leaving the States for Ontario I discovered a Meth Lab on the 1200 acres I lease to coyote hunt. I called the Police and they transfered me to State Bureau of Narcotics local office.

An old partner of mine answered, told him the deal, calls me back on my cell, the're tied up in court. I tell him Im gonna rock and roll with this AR on this lab if they don't come on. He laughs and said save some for us.

Gee whiz it was like a Homecoming Reunion. 8 guys show up we found 4 Labs total. They brought a suppressed Uzi, AKs, Hks and ARs.

We stood shoulder to shoulder and ran off about 120 rounds each.

And then someone in the area called the "Cops" about automatic weapons fire:D It probably sounded like a young war.

We all laughed shot the bull and told "war stories" until the barrels cooled.
Don't think that's possible here in Ontario with any police, friend or not. Sad........

What a World of difference a line on a map makes...

Well we are making gains...I never thought I would see an end to the registry but it is happening.Sites like this are good it unites firearm owners and gives us all a voice.

Let's hope these get through classification without someone "thinking"

That might keep some of you younger guys happy for a while. (and there's not a single AK compatible part)
In the meantime, take the hold open off your Vz, it will operate just like an AK, only you can hit stuff. :D
