Alberta accubond whitetail

Not a great buck??????
I think any buck is a great buck, but this one is REALLY nice! Congrats!
Our rifle season is finished, so any chance of me bagging a buck is over for this year. Hopefully I'll get a doe during muzzle loader season...

Mine went through front shoulder....lungs and opposite ribs and lodged under hide(which was kinda cool cause I got to keep the bullet).

Identical shot placement to mine. Bullet followed exactly the same path, too. Mine shattered the front left shoulder, went through the lungs, ribs on the other side, and I found it under the hide as well. I haven't had a chance to weigh it yet (started out as 150 grains).

I like that shot. The buck managed 50 yards at best before he had to lay down. I had to carry a deer up a hill once - don't ever want to do that again! I'm not retirement age, yet, but I am getting on in years. It's amazing how necessity teaches you to be a better hunter, so you don't have to work so hard afterward. Everybody's experiences are different, but I've reached the stage where I don't do the evening hunt because I don't want to have to field dress, etc. in the cold and dark. Needless to say, your hunting skills have to improve, if you plan to ditch half the hunt time and get picky about when you'll take an animal.

But, I don't regret that decision. I get up early enough to be in position well before the dawn hunt and the day goes much better when the animal is taken in the early morning and you have all day to work.

Got a call from the butcher yesterday, my whitetail is all neatly wrapped in waxed paper. I'll be picking it up today - yum!!

That's a heck of a nice deer, good job! Nice to see another Albertan who doesn't think hunting means driving around trying to shhot deer from the truck. Good job, and thanks for including the details, now I gotta try some of those bullets too.
