I had so much fun Antelope hunting last year that I put in for the non trophy tags in an area 130 miles south of my ranch. We pulled our trailer down south of Hanna and with the wife spotting and after some cold nights and days cooped up with -15 temps and 30km winds we found a suitable dry doe and a 140 gr SST from my 6.5-06 did the trick a bit over 200 yards. We had a great hunt good food and experience some typical prairie weather and wildlife. the trailer froze up and I blew a tire, but overall a great to start off my hunting season.

The Kimber actioned 6.5-06 which is fast becoming my favourite open country rifle. RickF was the brains behind its inception

Nice work, good looking rifle too. The 6.5-06 is a round i have long considered for precisely that kind of work.

While I am sure that a 25-06 and 270 would be great in this setup, i have found this chambering to be the most consistsant long range game getter that I have encountered in the field, minimal recoil, high BC SD and hits with enough energy for the largest deer I will ever meet up with.

That RickF sounds like a genius!

'Cept he let that rifle go! ;) When did you get the Kimber from me Dave? '93 or '94?

Nice pics and nice lope Dave. Thanks for sharing.

Hmmm...I have always wanted a 6.5 long range rifle of some sort.....

Thanks for sharing Battle! I'm heading out in a week with some friends to fill some non-trophy tags...should be a fun afternoon!

1 He is a genius
2 Sharing a good rifle build is a very honourable thing to do
3 I have another Kimber BGR in 30-06 that I may get made into a 338-06 build, a nice matched pair in the making no?

agreed...he`s just off by a decade on his dates...:D

he`s good at getting guys to buy rifles too...he showed up at my house with a nice Pre`64 Featherweight and a week later I had one.......

I should have just stolen that rifle from Dave when I had the chance....
