Alberta black bear ... with a spear

Not the way I see it, he decided to try and do it the most challenging way possible, and it was legal. If it's true he was a champion javelin thrower that adds even more to it.

As my digital age climbs slowly less and less am I interested in judging people's legal methods of taking game. In fact I find the nanny statism of self censoring rather irritating now, though I've been as guilty as any in the past.

Ha!..... Interesting simultaneous post.......

I have no comment on the hunt, the method or anything else. I didn't watch the video. I couldn't stand the stupid soundtrack and clicked it off after 10 seconds.

As my digital age climbs, I can't help but feel that seeking internet glory for a well executed stunt on a live animal, legal or not deserves some scrutiny from other hunters.

Patrick....... I appreciate your sentiment, I really do....... and will debate you without the need to argue.... What weapon would you have suggested he used?...... There is always something "bigger and better"....... In theory, he could have used a 50 bmg to "avoid any suffering"

This is the digital age....... And as much as it sucks in some ways, I enjoy that I get to experience videos from other hunters.....

Cool video but this guys seems like a douche bag when he talks and while he is doing his little "happy dance".

Could have shown a little more respect for the beast.

That is all =)

yeah, god forbid he show some excitement. He should have just took a stone faced picture with the animal after the recovery. ZERO FUN SHOULD BE HAD WHILE HUNTING!!!!!

With all due respect, this may have been the culmination of many hours of practice, lots of hard work and determination to get to the outcome.......

I used to hunt how extensively, and practice it relentlessly...... I now no longer hunt with string as I don't have the time to practice it like I used to and I owe my prey better...... But I will go back there in a heartbeat when time permits.

There is nothing in his video that tells me he is going "over the top" because we all have different personalities...... I wouldn't have reacted like that personally, but that is not my character........ I actually prefer to experience the "remorse" period first, then get down to business....... We are all different.......

All you idiots sound the the same stupid old fudds who are afraid of black baby killer guns.

Christ this guy is excited. Had a great amazing hunt that unfolded perfectly.

Even if the bear ran 400 yards who gives two shifts it's not your animal and you are not eating it. It was recovered promptly during daylight hours.

I guess no one should be hunting with ancient long bows anymore either just because something more accurate with pin sights is available.

I think this hunting forum here is getting ridiculous. We can't seem to go two posts on here without some keyboard warrior spouts off his stupid opinion about someone else's hunt.

If you don't like it shut the eff up and bypass the subject.

I hoot and holler and high five like crazy after my adrenaline rush of a hunt. I'm not some God fearing, shed tears for every damn piece of meat that touches my plate. You enjoy your tears and sorrow while the rest of us enjoy the rush and excitement of hard work.

Start worrying when you see a video where the hunter shows no emotion.

Agreed...... I harvested what was likely my 40th or so whitetail last season...... When I found it dead (5 yards or less form where I shot it)...... It got a "yes" and fist pump....... I take pride in my harvest and so did this guy......

Yes i agree with you there we all have different personalities and when adrenaline kicks in who knows what we are capable of.

I did not mean to offend any hunters. I personally would not have a beer with him but I will definitely watch is epic videos of stalking bears with a spear.

I think Ardent and Superbrad are on it. My only addition would be that if he wanted to be a superhardcore, then ditch the bait barrel and go with the spear as a primary weapon and see if he could do it. Oh and I think it wise to keep the back up.

Nothing wrong with hunting with a spear the guy would have had better results if he was using the right tipe of spear them cold steel pig spears are heavy and awkward and ment for stabbing

I will soon be out with a proper throwing Speer try my luck agen this year for deer

Better results than a 50 yard track to a dead bear? Like what?
