Alberta Draw Deadline June 24

Thanks for the reminder - I put in for Moose up by Fox Creek, my two Mulie (antlered/less) draws for our family farm, and I put in for Wainwright this year to try and build some priority for future years.

Did I read this right? Only allowed one whitetail deer this year? Either one antlered (always been that way) or only one antlerless (usually allowed 2). What was once a total of 3 deer has now gone to one only? Maybe they aren't looking out here. There are still tons eating my garden. That is, until I put up the electric fence this weekend.

Draws are in, but after down loading the result stats from last year, I dont think I will get any for 2010. Looks like most of the draws I put in for, need priority 6 or better now.

All 999's for me this year. Burned my Pri 6 moose last year on a local easy access hunt, and still have not found a place to use my Pri 6 Mulie at, so i just put it in again, and will maybe use it next year.

Read the general regs, not the draw ones, to find out what we can get all 'round the place. The antlered tags get you one Mulie and one Whitetail. The supplementals get you two does each of Mulie and whitetail, then you start to get into the stuff like the Strathcona County Special licenses, Foothills Deer, etc.
And one each Moose and Elk, however you can get a tag.

From the way the biologists were talking about the numbers in our area, I don't see them rolling back the general season tags at all.

IIRC, we are good for about a dozen deer each, if willing to travel a bit to partake of different opportunities and 'special' licenses. And have dome luck or perseverence in the draws.

Methinks you shall not go short of venison! :D

Only have to wait until July 14th. Just use the time to go through your gear, plan possible stradgedy's (sp?) on google earth, develop loads, and get those skills sharp.

I spent the day working on our old hunting trailer; welded a couple #10 gm screwjacks on the back of the frame for easy levelling/support. Since I added an 8" spacer over the trailing link axle I'd've had to carry a lot of lumber to space up the jackstands I was using.
This'll work great, and since they're welded on, it's one less thing to pack. Next: regrease the wheel bearings, and check the trailer brakes. (yes, the trailer brakes work on our 30yr old, $400 14' forget the name, least they do after my wife rewired them :) ), then repaint the trailer frame, and so on.
Before you know it, it's mid Sept. and it's time to leave. :dancingbanana:

I shall not. Thanks Trev. BTW, how ya feeling? Walking around yet? Best to you,
Cheers,
RW

Yep. Doin' good.
Incisions itch, area still bruised, but been doing some therapeutic fishing, to pass the time. Walking is OK, if I keep a limit on it.

Should be in fine shape by hunting season, what with only gimping on one side from now on.

Cheers
