Go get permission "RIGHT NOW" in the north-east corner of the Base area. I don't know the land owners name, but your "dad" should start hitting the pavement and knocking on doors. If your dad had a priority 11 or higher, I would of been asking for permission prior to the draw. Good Luck!!!Old man got first season Suffield Elk. Any suggestions or tips?

LOL!!! OK, it's a cow draw. Well the best of luck anyway for you and your dad!No no, we got the cow elk tag with a priority 1 for the cow cull, Nov 17-20.
I won't put in for a draw for a zone without scouting it out first but this is a base hunt.
I do agree with you and it's very frustrating when guys pull tags with 10+ priority then say " I have never been to this area in my life and have no idea where to go, give me pointers".
Not at all. However, you require a resident to purchase a Hunter Host Permit to take you hunting. Once that is accomplished then the out of province resident can purchase their whitetail license. I purchased a Hunter Host Permit his year. My 70 year old uncle from the Ottawa area is coming out in mid-November for two weeks for Northern Alberta whitetail and elk............he's pumped! Is it a draw for whitetail for Canadian residents?

I paid around $28.00 for the permit which permits two (2) out of province hunters, however; I only have the one hunter. You can do it on line under "Albertarelm". It took me under 5 minutes. Good luck!!! BTW, you know where I'm taking my hunter (uncle) for whitetails.Interesting, I think I will look into this. Thanks for the info Track.

you should do OK, the first seasons are the best as the elk learn fast.
