Alberta Draw Results are up

I screwed the pooch on the draw apps so hoping to snag an undersubsribed mulie, apart from that it's general w/t and just maybe try my luck on a bull elk

I have to admit, I'm pretty darn excited......................

Antless moose - check
Antlerless elk = check

and wait for it..................................

Bison......Check. Once in a lifetime maybe,

Old man got first season Suffield Elk. Any suggestions or tips?
Go get permission "RIGHT NOW" in the north-east corner of the Base area. I don't know the land owners name, but your "dad" should start hitting the pavement and knocking on doors. If your dad had a priority 11 or higher, I would of been asking for permission prior to the draw. Good Luck!!!

No no, we got the cow elk tag with a priority 1 for the cow cull, Nov 17-20.

I won't put in for a draw for a zone without scouting it out first but this is a base hunt.

I do agree with you and it's very frustrating when guys pull tags with 10+ priority then say " I have never been to this area in my life and have no idea where to go, give me pointers".

LOL!!! OK, it's a cow draw. Well the best of luck anyway for you and your dad!

Is it a draw for whitetail for Canadian residents?
Not at all. However, you require a resident to purchase a Hunter Host Permit to take you hunting. Once that is accomplished then the out of province resident can purchase their whitetail license. I purchased a Hunter Host Permit his year. My 70 year old uncle from the Ottawa area is coming out in mid-November for two weeks for Northern Alberta whitetail and elk............he's pumped!

Interesting, I think I will look into this. Thanks for the info Track.

I paid around $28.00 for the permit which permits two (2) out of province hunters, however; I only have the one hunter. You can do it on line under "Albertarelm". It took me under 5 minutes. Good luck!!! BTW, you know where I'm taking my hunter (uncle) for whitetails.;)

you should do OK, the first seasons are the best as the elk learn fast.

Good truck and good tires ;)

Not to hijack the thread but, I drew my 2 Mullies and my whitetail doe.
Anyone know how to proceed once we can buy the tags.? Seems a little confusing. Accept the draws, pay the website, Go get tags from a fish and wildlife office?
No more middle man like Canadian tire or wholesale sports? That seemed way easier than this. Am I understanding right?
This is my second year hunting so am a little confused by the new site setup.
Help please.

Starting Aug. 1 you may purchase your tags. You can either purchase them from a retailer like normal, or you can get the tags themselves for free and purchase/print off the licence on AlbertaRelm. The tags themselves are generic but sequentially numbered. You write in the info in the blank areas and then tie the numbered tag to your licence when you purchase it online (if you do it yourself) You print off the licence yourself if you purchase it online.
It is new, and this will be our first attempt.
If you look under "licencing and costs" it's explained: http://albertaregulations.ca/huntingregs/licencecosts.html

The timetable of events are on page 2 of the drawbook: http://mywildalberta.com/Hunting/HuntingDraws/Default.aspx

Where to get the generic tags is on page 9 of the drawbook.

I believe that's all the info and my answer is correct, any other questions, just ask.
