did some spotting and calling for my hunting partner. called this one out at about 300yrds but he wouldn't go broadside sooo... 300 WIN MAG 180 gr to the chest! there is a pic of his heart

i'll pass on your praise to him!!! he was told a couple of days ago that he had to leave with work next weekend so he was tight on time. he's very happy with this one... we should have it in the freezer before he leaves.

he bolted (adrenalin i guess) for about 25 yards. there was jelly (shock) between the right shoulder and the ribs and along the back. we hate taking shots like that but like i said before time was short, he was nice and just wouldn't go broadside. my turn next!

we just got back from elk hunting and didn't have time to sight in with a lighter bullet. but a head on shot sure makes a mess. right now it doesn't look like any meat was lost but there is 'jelly' everywhere and we didn't find the bullet. looks like it might of exited his left side or it was just some bone frag from his chest. will know for sure when we cut him up.
