I've been checked by both Jim and Mark in the past year. Great guys. Happy to have them in my area.![]()
BTW Dave, still haven't heard back. Mark is to be in the office Thursday. Maybe I will call Dawn in Cochrane. She'll steer us straight too.
Arrest them! Tell them they have 20 seconds to leave you alone and leave the area or you will arrest them and charge them with harassment. If they do not leave then arrest them and deliver them to the nearest police officer and have them charged with anything your little mind can dream up. How but uttering threats for one!!

From the Wildlife act
"Prohibition of harassment of hunters
47(1) A person shall not interfere with the lawful hunting of wildlife by another person, or with any lawful activity preparatory to such hunting, with the intention of preventing or impeding the hunting or the continuation of the hunting.
(2) A person shall not disturb, or engage in an activity that will tend to disturb, wildlife with the intention of preventing or impeding its being lawfully hunted.
(3) A person shall not disturb another person who is engaged in the lawful hunting of wildlife, or in any lawful activity preparatory to such hunting, with the intention of dissuading that person from hunting or otherwise preventing the hunting or of preventing that person’s enjoyment of the outdoors."
The person was acting on their own and not under any authority of their position with SRD. So they could be "warned" or charges layed.
I carry a photocopy of this in my wallet and if anyone bothers me while I am hunting, I can show them that they are on thin ice.
Robin in Rocky
I don't know the details of the encounter, but if the individual was 'on duty' at this time, they could be in a whole lot more s**t than that.
At least I sure hope so.
BTW, great idea on having a copy of that Duffy.
I'm with you Dave, go all the way with this #####. We should stand with Dave on court costs if needed, let's fight this battle with him and win. I'll pledge the first $50.00 .... the skunt needs a lesson.![]()
Dave / Ed,
I appreciate your efforts to better understand the situation. Dave, I'll answer your question first, followed by how we generally deal with these types of incidents:
Lookout positions start up in the spring and are terminated during the fall (give, or take and given their actual location / surrounding hazard). Although there is no guarantee of employment we generally attempt to retain employees from year to year. Our lookout lady at ***** has been a long time employee, and up to now we have not had any complaints about her conduct. However, given your recent concerns, and based on the knowledge that I have, we are dealing with this incident in the following manner:
*I have personally reviewed your concerns with her to ensure she understands why you found her behavior offensive.
*I have stressed that as SRD employees we are often called upon to play the role of a good host, and personal agenda should be kept separate from gov't business.
*We have documented this incident by covering it off in her performance assessment. If this type of incident were to happen again, your information will provide some background in further dealing with the issue.
*We will also incorporate this scenario into our annual orientation session, which is held with all seasonal staff.
Again, our apologies for any inconvenience this has caused you. You have raised some valid questions on our signage, which will prove useful in developing our lookout safety policies. As well, I sincerely hope that we have also provided you with some insight on our concerns related to lookout safety. I hope you find our efforts to resolve this satisfactory...I enjoyed our discussion very much and am very appreciative of your comments.
Happy hunting!
Good on you! i hate to make excuses for peoples behavior, well actually i'm not making excuses but SRD probably is suffering from the same shallow talent pool that the rest of AB has had to find employees in. 15 years ago these morons could not have found work shovleling s**t for the huterites!
