Arrest them! Tell them they have 20 seconds to leave you alone and leave the area or you will arrest them and charge them with harassment. If they do not leave then arrest them and deliver them to the nearest police officer and have them charged with anything your little mind can dream up. How but uttering threats for one!!

I've been checked by both Jim and Mark in the past year. Great guys. Happy to have them in my area.
They are great. We have helped eachother quite a bit over the last few years. Great to see Jim get that award for his service of excellence this past winter.
The boys from Valleyview are good too. THey stopped us on the 43 coming home last fall. We looked like the Clampettes (sp) with the moose heads way up on top. I don't blame them for checking us. It made a bit of a scene on the highway but we were on our way in no time flat, having made another great aqaintance!
BTW Dave, still haven't heard back. Mark is to be in the office Thursday. Maybe I will call Dawn in Cochrane. She'll steer us straight too.

I called her already and she put me in touch with the forestry office in Cowtown. Now just to find the right contact

He can't arrest the person because the crime being commited is only a summary offence, and to use citizen's arrest powers (Criminal Code 494) the offence has to be indictable (or hybrid). This can easily be persued though, and I say run with it!
From the Wildlife act
"Prohibition of harassment of hunters
47(1) A person shall not interfere with the lawful hunting of wildlife by another person, or with any lawful activity preparatory to such hunting, with the intention of preventing or impeding the hunting or the continuation of the hunting.
(2) A person shall not disturb, or engage in an activity that will tend to disturb, wildlife with the intention of preventing or impeding its being lawfully hunted.
(3) A person shall not disturb another person who is engaged in the lawful hunting of wildlife, or in any lawful activity preparatory to such hunting, with the intention of dissuading that person from hunting or otherwise preventing the hunting or of preventing that person’s enjoyment of the outdoors."
The person was acting on their own and not under any authority of their position with SRD. So they could be "warned" or charges layed.
I carry a photocopy of this in my wallet and if anyone bothers me while I am hunting, I can show them that they are on thin ice.

Ya, I had that already. But a great idea posting it for others to see.
The person was on duty at the time. And at this point I think I am going to take it as far as I can. I am sick and #@&*en tired of these hippy AWA supporters who think that they own the wilderness and the animals in it.

A bit of advice that was passed on to me from someone who deals with government agencies a lot is: s*#t rolls down hill. Contact the minister in charge by personal letter and cc as many managers/supervisors as you can find. Be polite but be firm. As your elected and hired government officials they have a duty to respond to you, as long as you don't come across as a nut job. The guilty party at the end of the pile should need a lot of TP to cleanup the mess they've created.(In a perfect world!)

Well guys and gals, here is how it went. It took me quite some time to find the right big wigs to chat with. I had some very long emails and phone calls and from what I hear I caused quite the sh!t storm within Alberta SRD. Lawyers were called and my origional letter and all emails following it made it to the minister Ted Morton, as well as many others high up on the totem pole.
I had quite a few responses basically brushing me off. Once that happened I had said that I was not happy with the outcome and was going to take it further. All of a sudden things changed and they were willing to work with my father and I on what we thought the outcome should be. My father actually had a chance to call this afternoon after reading all the correspondence I sent him, as he was the one that was with me at the time of the incident.
Here is our latest response from Roy Campbell:
At the end of it my father and I were happy with the outcome. It was well worth the time taken and when I said that we were not happy with a simple apology and was willing to take it much further things started to really happen.
I know for a fact that in the future this person will act much more appropriately towards hunters, at least while on duty.

Good on you! i hate to make excuses for peoples behavior, well actually i'm not making excuses but SRD probably is suffering from the same shallow talent pool that the rest of AB has had to find employees in. 15 years ago these morons could not have found work shovleling #### for the huterites!

Even Roy Campbell(who is a hunter) admitted knowing that allot of the employees in his department were of a different breed. Something to do with MEC, granola, and tree hugging is what I remember off of the top of my head.

A game warden once checked the deer I had in the back of the truck. Wanted to know where I shot it. I told him about where I shot it. He told me I was coming with him to find the gutpile. I told him I wasn't going anywhere. He told me he would use as much force as necessary to make me go with him.
Being young and a bit rangy at the time, I reminded him I had a rifle and he did not. I would not be going anywhere with him. And I encouraged him to call the RCMP, which he did. I left to continue my hunt, but I first threw my drivers license into his truck so he knew who I was.
Next day I attended the Fish and Wildlife office and picked up my license and got a half assed apology, which I didnt want anyways. Told me I was a young smartass for the way I acted. Told him Id never been in trouble in my life and wasn't about to be bluffed by a lardass out in the bush.
RCMP never did talk to me.
He is good friends with my dad to this day.
