You don't need a spotting scope....but can certainly have one there if you like.....there is always a RSO at every station spotting, and usually others as well.
Same goes for a spotter.
Rangefinders and ballistic calculators are fine.
Targets are at random distances.
You can shoot from any position you like, most shoot prone on "platforms" which the organizers generously supply.
There is no "competition" as such. By the time you shoot your first station, you will be at ease and comfortably enjoying yourself.
