ALBERTA TACTICAL RIFLE (specs, pics, and ongoing range report)

I have almost the exact same build from ATR except she is in a fully loaded A-5 with one of their in ATR muzzle brakes. In todays age of "overnight" gunsmiths the marque on the barrel states that this is not some garage built out of square owned by "MALL NINJA" remmy ! It states that I paid a premium for CNC results done by a true craftsman, I didn't go to the lowest bider like the government, or a gunsmith that purchased his lathe from an auction or worse china! I would put my ATR M40EH5 against anything any "marine corp armorer" could produce! You get what you pay for and ATR on a rifle is a feather in your cap!!!

Lots of money to just shoot 1/2"?

Will it hold the 1/2" @ 500? or 800?

Why did they engrave their name every where? Nice Rifle...until you see that. I would ask them for a new barrel without their name on it.

There's a pretty big difference between your fixed power SWFA and mine. It's like saying the Vortex PST is crap because your crossfire's glass has poor resolution. I know that's not what you said but I just wanted to clear the air!

My SWFA is HORRIBLE! It is the 16X model. The turrets and repeatability seem fine, but the glass is horrible. I had it mounted on my 22lr temporarily and I could hardly see the bullet holes at 100 yards.

Hmmmm? If that's not what I said, than there should be no air to clear.

If you plan to try the 190 SMKs try some Vit N550, Varget is too fast.
I am running 45.5 Gr of N550 in a Lapua case with 210M primers seated to just a couple of thou short of mag internal length and it works wonderfully.:D
Start a grain lower just cuz ofcourse.

What are you getting for velocity? And from what barrel length of barrel.

I got to shoot my rifle at 607 yards today. I used some 175gr Sierra Matchkings at 2615 fps. I shot 3-5 shot groups. The first measured 4", then 3.3", then 4.5" for an average of 3.93" or .65 moa. I think I could have improved on that a bit because I forgot my rear bag. So I had to fold my gun case in half and use it. I had a Harris bipod on the front.

I finally talked my wife of 17 years into shooting a gun. My son took her out one day and she shot his 22. She only took 9 shots out of his gun. So today I sweet talked her into shooting my Alberta Tactical. We set her up on the bench, and dialed the scope to my 300 yard zero. This is her only 3 shots, and only the 10,11,and12th shots she has ever shot. I am VERY impressed. I just asked her if she will ever shoot it again, and she just shrugged her shoulders and said, "I just dont get the same thrill out of it that you do." I hope she will in the future because she was good.

Looks like that gun has came together quite nicely. I have days where i can get my 7 rem to put 5 in a quarter at 300... but if i have to back up a group its pretty consistant inch a 300. That accuracy at 300 carries out to 1200. If you havnt tried shooting 1000 you should... That gun looks good ta go to me. Nice work!

I finally took the time to work up a good load for this rifle. The load I had been shooting was averaging around .6 moa for 5 shots at 100 and 300 yards. I knew the gun was capable of better accuracy so I just had to find what it liked. I bought some Sierra 155 Matchkings (2155) and this is what I got for my first 5 shot group at 100 yards

I went back and loaded up 10 more to try at 300 yards and shot these 2 5-shot groups. 1.3" & 1.2" or an average of about .41 moa

Now I can't wait to replace the Nikon 4.5-14 with something bigger and decrease the groups even more.
