Just looking for some reviews on the Alfa Proj .357 Magnum Revolver. I've been considering buying one when my RPAL comes in. Just doing some research while I wait. Would love to hear feedback from anyone who has purchased one. 6" or 4.5" barrel? Are grips easy to find to change out? Overall thoughts? Thanks!!!

Good Revolver, I would personally spend the extra and get the S&W 686 versions. I would go with the 6 inch as you are going to be at a range and the extra length helps with the recoil and it just looks badass.

I never had a .357 but I did have one of the 9mm ones for awhile. They are decent guns and were good value when they were going for $500 or so.....not so sure now. I think I'd look for a nice 686 or 586 on the EE.

I don't have the .357/38 model, but I have the 9mm version. I love mine. It's medium frame is the perfect size and weight for a revolver in my hands. This revolver looks very well built, IMO, and it handles the 9mm round very easily.

It should be able to take the abuse of a steady .357 Magnum diet, which is rated at roughly the same pressure as the 9 mm, 30,000-35,000 psi.

If you shoot mostly 38 spl or +Ps, (16,000-20,000psi) through the Alfa, it should last a long long time.

No offense to S&W K-frame lovers (I have 2 myself, used to have more) but I think the Alfa Project is a stronger design than the classic S&W K-frame which is approximately the same size and weight.

This is some very helpful information so far. Thank you for taking the time to reply and give your thoughts. I really like the look of this revolver and reading some positive feedback makes it even better. I have considered the S&W and Ruger but the Alfa Project stood out more to me. :)

I handled an Alfa Pro at my range one time and I didn't like the look or the feel of it . if I was you I would stick with a Ruger or S&W. spend a little extra . the S&W will have a nicer trigger pull than the Ruger . and as for the barrel length it's going to be up to you . go to the local gun shop pick up a 6 inch revolver and lift if up and see how it points . then pick up a 4.2 inch revolver and see how it points and how it feels in you hands . and don't let the guy behind the counter choose for you . it's personal preference . they all point and feel different . forget the reviews . I couldn't tell you how many times someone has told me this place and that place has great food and then I ate there and the place stunk .

to each their own . I have belonged to the same target club for over 30 years and shot more handguns than I can remember . please stick with the Ruger or the S&W. buy something you can be proud of . buy a Smith .

The Alfa Proj. is not bad, but try a S&W or a Ruger if you can at your range. You will fell the difference immediatelly. Also there are more grip options for the S&W. It costs more but the quality is better.
I used to be a big fan of the 6" barrels, but now I only have shorter ones. They balance better and you will not notice that they are less accurate within a reasonable range (20 m).

I have one in 357 and these are the wooden grips I placed on them. I think I got them from Rusty Wood or maybe Canada Ammo? I think swapping out the grips makes a huge difference in the comfort of holding and shooting, as well as it looks better. This one has about 2000 rounds through it. The single action trigger on it is quite nice and I bought a new spring kit to make the double action trigger better but I didn't install it yet.

Personally, I'm not a real double action revolver fan, much prefer semi auto handguns or single action revolvers. So if I was really into DA revolvers I might want to get into a S&W or Ruger, but for my purposes the AP makes sense. It sure seems like a good solid gun, no complaints there.

Good timing gentlemen....
I'm considering to buy a stainless, 9mm, 4,5" model with fluted cylinder to give a try in IPSC.
I don't like the S&W counterpart.
Could somebody school me on the kind of holster/belt/holders I could use ?
Thanks.

More great info to think about! Thanks again. I will for sure be going to the store to check out my options. Looking forward to the day my RPAL arrives so I can finally get my first revolver.

I was itching for a revolver again, but I'm too busy to reload for more then one handguns caliber (I downsized to 9mm as my default handgun round) so didn't want to go .357 or .44mag route again. 9mm Alfa proj was the obvious choice. Factory grips however, are made for 10 year olds hands so they had to go; replaced them with larger wood grips and they feel much better. I'm a semi auto guy so no revolver ever felt quite right tho. It's a nice change up form shooting my other 9's tho.

Great feedback! Thanks! The grips are something I was looking into switching out. Glad to know there are different sizes available if needed. I was thinking of going with the wood grips too.

It sounds like you have made your choice to me. as in the Alpha Pro. with wooden grips . I hope if you buy one it's everything you wanted and more .

As a new RPAL owner, I would suggest you buy a 9mm semi-auto as your first gun instead of a revolver. Unless you are set up for reloading revolver cartridges, you will not find cheap 38Special /357 mag ammo. So you will have to buy factory ammo.

It has been my experience that new shooters buy 9mm semi-auto guns before going to revolvers. You can buy 1000 factory 9mm ammo for less than C$240.00. Check the Dealer News on this site.

A 9mm can be easier to learn on, mid-priced 9mm guns like the S&W M&P is around C$550.00 new, and you can get more time on a 9mm auto for less money for gun & ammo.

I am almost sure I'll buy the Alfa Proj. (Not 100% yet) I still would like to check them out in person to be sure. The more I research the more confident I am with my choice. My local gun store is open tomorrow so I plan to check them out then. I too hope it will be everything I've wanted and more ☺
