As a new RPAL owner, I would suggest you buy a 9mm semi-auto as your first gun instead of a revolver. Unless you are set up for reloading revolver cartridges, you will not find cheap 38Special /357 mag ammo. So you will have to buy factory ammo.
It has been my experience that new shooters buy 9mm semi-auto guns before going to revolvers. You can buy 1000 factory 9mm ammo for less than C$240.00. Check the Dealer News on this site.
A 9mm can be easier to learn on, mid-priced 9mm guns like the S&W M&P is around C$550.00 new, and you can get more time on a 9mm auto for less money for gun & ammo.
Thanks for the advice! My husband has been in the sport for a very long time so we are set up for reloading. He's looking forward to having my help now. I'm looking forward to learning how to reload as well.
I do plan to get a semi auto as well at some point. It will be a 9mm for sure. Starting with the revolver since I've always wanted one.
