I love the .300 Savage....but why do that to a limited run rifle instead of starting from scratch?
 
Looks like a nice handy gun. I like the short barrels and think if you shortened the stock a few inches up front it would be better yet. And lighter.
 
Very nice!

I have/had the same rifle and found I wasn't using it, so I had the barrel cut down to 21" and the stock shortened to a 12 3/8" LOP and gave it to my sister.

You are making me wonder how much lighter it would be with a synthetic stock.
 
What kind of loads are you using?
Hunting loads are
150 ttsx over 8208xbr for 2850 in the original 24" classic
130 ttsx over 8208xbr for ~2900 in the one pictured. Hasn't been developed yet

I seen this abomination on Bartells facebook page. I thought "who the hell would assemble such an ugly boom stick". But youre from NWT's so it makes sense :D

this thing shoots 130gr TTSX well @ 2950 fps

first group is a ragged hole on the left, 2nd group on the right
