All is Not Right in Eotech Land... *UPDATE Getting Worse*

Being shot at is not that big of a deal, its happened to me on more then 1 occasion, training and skills are still there. 3 gun is not just a fun sport, it is based on a military cqb and long distance scenerios as per the miller brothers intended it to be. Some guys down here take 3 gun very seriously, its good training that makes for good skills out on the field. Leos often get stuck in a handgun fight out in the open, speed and accuracy wins a gun fight, DVC.

And Larry Vickers helped design IDPA to be reflective of true scenarios a CCW holder might face. But it's still just a game.

And FWIW, I run an EOTech on my 3gun AR and have never once had an issue for 4+ seasons now. I've used both a Sig 226 and a Beretta 92 for 3 of those years, replacing them this year with a PPQ. Haven't had anything break on me yet, nor have I ever lost zero. And yes, I'm classified. No big deal; certainly not a Jedi level of mastery over shooting skills

The only thing the game has in common with combat is the fact you are pulling a trigger; however, some platforms in certain divisions are so Gucci that they're too finicky to be used in combat; not to mention field conditions would make them unreliable and therefore impractical.

Weird seems to echo what I have said

I'll never forget when I deployed to Thriganistan. That's how I ended up with my tattoos and beard. But it wasn't all fun and games. There was this one time when I was walking by a bunch of what I thought were just garbage bags...got right next to them before I realized I was right, they were just garbage bags. But they could have been recycling bags. I was pretty wrecked from that, just thinking about what could have happened to the guys in my squad. Like if they weren't watching out, they could have tripped and this one guy who's pretty overweight - don't knock it, you don't know what he's been through - he could have totally blown his knee out. Pretty ####ed up #### and you don't necessarily come back from that. I mean I guess with surgery and physio but how do you go back to being a regular guy after the game has taken your leg? It's pretty ####ed up.

There was this other time that I was totally on my own, like completely outside the wire, and all of a sudden I heard this screaming. I looked around and then I realized this local was screaming at me. Apparently there's private property all around the range and if you cross the wire fence this guy gets totally pissed. I was shook up, you know? And like why didn't they put signs on the wire? That's going to cost somebody big time one day. I think the fine for trespassing is about $175.

Anyway, I just want to thank you guys for your support. I served as best I could. I mean later on, at the drive-thru, this guy asked for a triple burger, and I served it up, hardcore. Actually I noticed when he was driving away that he had a CSOR logo in his rear window and I challenged him to fight after I googled the pic to make sure, but he was too pussy after ten minutes of driving away to even listen to me challenge him. What a ###.

games>war, #####es. That's REALITY. not every1 can cope.

you are soooooooooo wrong man. Im doing this for the kid that thinks a sig 226, walther ppq or beretta are good for 3 gun. Do not buy these guns for 3 gun, buy a cz or glock to start, marauder in 9mm or infinity if you got the cash flow. Those are terrible 3 gun handguns, absolutey terrible guns. The sig has an 11 pound double action, the beretta a 9, and the ppq has a good trigger but no extended mags, aftermarket parts, height over bore is horrendous, this is not a bond film.
If you dont think that running as fast as you can and shooting accurately is not combat effective, you need to send me some of that Canadian kush bro. Theres alot more pts on this site than previously thought. Im out good night, have fun with your eotechs, maybe this thread has gotten so stupid that no sane person will be willing to read thru this and that will at least keep them from buying an eotech. ps i secretly want an eotech in fde, im just in the closet about it.

Wow, REAL PTSD..... Post Trashbag Stress Disorder. It can happen and it's so insidious, best of luck.

Quick question, were the garbage bags full of EoTechs?

Woah... looks like a challenge has been issued and accepted. I would love to see a video of that contest.

I don't think you should ever discount the courage and skill of the men and women in our armed services, especially those who seek no fame, who do their duty far from home so that the rest of us may sleep well at night.

Whatever the outcome of this contest is, I salute your spirt and sense of sportsmanship.

A bit of the trail now but I love my eotechs an my groups look tight

Yes and would you bring a magnified 4x optic with a 16" barrel into a cqb event???? The options are eotech and elcan, aimpoint are not issued if used are personally al purchase .

If you read my previous posts I did mention the different set ups they have most guys have 3 uppers. But I'm done debating what I know to be true at the highest level of COMBAT shooting with for all I know is a key board warrior.

Enjoy your 3 gum

Standing bye for your preferred range to run the shoot but not holding my breath .

From alcatraz...OuT

So you will fly out and challenge me at a 3 gun event , winner takes the others optic, accepted sir. im flying to an event near Canada in washington state on nov 14th. There is a 3 gun event every month in the US and if you dont have your form 6 i can have it done for you thru a friend in the department of defense, it will clear in 2 business days unless you have a criminal record. You must be made out of money to just challenge a stranger online, if you win and it sounds like you think you will i will give you a $700 dollar aimpoint.

I never had an issue with EoTechs either and I still regret selling my personal Eotech equipped AR before crossing the border.

I would like to see the gauntlet picked up also. It would be a heck of a shoot off and entertaining for all.

ETA I was typing while .5MOA was accepting, good deal

No criminal records here we all have green passports so we need no assistance.

Not made of money these guys are professional as I have said many many many times allready but your ignorance has blinded you to the fact that you MIGHT not be gods gift to shooting as your may think. But I degrees.

1 last time Pm for shoot details

It's funny how some look down on Canadian soldiers often because we don't pay them enough or lavish them with all the latest toys. We just don't have the money to do them justice. But Johnny Canuck goes out when called upon and does us proud with what little he is given. What a Canadian soldier may lack in equipment, he makes up for in skill, intelligence, determination and valour, In WW1 the only soldiers the Germans feared were the Canadians who did the impossible. In WW2 it was the Canadians who were often given the difficult tasks like the liberation of the Netherlands. Even the Russians respected our troops then.

And in Korea, The Battle of Kapyong is one of Canada's greatest, yet least-known, military achievements. For two days in April, 1951, a battalion of roughly 700 Canadian troops helped defend a crucial hill in the front lines of the Korean War against a force of about 5,000 Chinese soldiers. The two forward battalions—3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3 RAR) and 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (2 PPCLI) held blocking positions in the Kapyong Valley, on a key route south to the capital, Seoul.

The holding action of the Australians and Canadians at Kapyong allowed the UN forces to consolidate their troops for the next stage of operations. The Canadians had fought tenaciously against a Chinese army with a force several times their size. 2 PPCLI under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Jim Stone, and other veterans of the Second World War, utilized their experiences in fighting on the rugged terrain of Sicily and Italy and applied it to the hills of Korea to good effect, but at a price. There were 23 Canadian casualties, including 10 soldiers killed, as well as an estimated 2,000 Chinese casualties.

The battle contributed significantly to the defeat of the general Chinese offensive against the South that spring, protecting the capital city of Seoul from re-occupation, and plugging the hole in the UN line to give the South Koreans time to retreat. The wider Communist offensive of 1951 was halted about a week after the battle, and from that point on the Korean conflict became largely a war of patrols and enemy harassment, rather than large-scale attacks, as the front lines stabilized and the two sides embarked on peace talks.

So the men and women who serve in the Canadian Armed Forces have a proud and noble tradition to uphold, to face adversity with little more than panache and their rifles. Grimm professionals in a game where the score is not some tally on a scoreboard or a trophy, but in silent coffins draped with a Maple Leaf.

Target shooting no matter how "realistic" is not in the same league, and to even hint that does a disservice to those who stand on guard for thee.

(I'm just new to this sport, but I have nothing but the deepest respect and admiration for our veterans and serving men and woman. I thank you all for your service and sacrifice)

My limited use... nice dig...I guess you could consider 60-65 eotech per platoon in the Battle Group plus atts would equal well over 500 units could be misconstrued as limited exposure.

I'll keep running mine

I'm not discrediting your service, I'm simply saying that USSOCOM and NSW Crane spent a lot of money and time investigating this issue and came to the conclusion that the optic has tracking issues and fails to hold zero under varying climatic conditions. Eotech failing to admit to these issues and then altering their literature to reflect the reality is bad form, and hence the upcoming lawsuit. The other issues as I and others have outlined are well known and been around for years. Your optic not failing or all the optics you've seen/observed/handled not failing does not discredit two very large, very well funded and very educated organizations coming to the scientifically proven conclusion that the optics are unreliable. I doubt you discussed the Eotech and it's attributes with the 500 personnel you served with. I also doubt the 500 you served with were all proficient with their rifle or fully understand how the optic works. I doubt you observed them all zeroing, then confirming said zero at different temps and times. The fact you did not hear of any complaints or issues does not mean they did not and do not exist. I've never been stabbed so therefore it doesn't happen...Same message I get from your post.

The Eotech is a large heavy optic with a rather pathetic battery life. It also suffers POI shift, inconsistent tracking, random dimming, battery contact failures, and dead spots in the glass. Feel free to continue using an optic with a laundry list of issues. I prefer optics that work, and work, and work.

Sounds like we have an operator in the house.

Not an operator, just a guy who can read, do the research and decide that an unreliable optic isn't worth $600 plus dollars.

Whats your experience in using Eotechs? If your going to make a dig at someone you better be level 56 expert. Or your a armchair commando that reads online too much.

I've owned a couple, shot a fair number and seen about a half dozen fail. I don't know too many folks with an Eotech so the fact I've seen that many fail is something that alarms me.
