Any one know how hard it is to swap between wood stocks and the original folding stock?

If it’s anything like an AK you’ll have to do some drilling and will have the under-folder holes open on the side of your receiver, it won’t be an easy swap.

Read that wrong, OEM folder cannot be swapped. But a folder adaptor on a fixed stock is a piece of cake to swap

Is it because of the location of the pivot lug or because the optic mount would interfere with folding the stock?

You could put on the mastermounts but the stock would hit the mounts when trying to fold. If you were ok with it being open all the time then it'll work np!

You can't replace the wood stock with the side folder they use, but you can find a number of aftermarket adapters to replace the wood stock with a number of different stocks including folding vz58 stocks

You can easily put a butt pad on the underfolder if you are concerned about recoil. I still have one in the bin, used it for my Mini 14 underfolder but not really needed it, the recoil for the 7.62x39 cartridge is meh. Of course you should not do it with only a sleeveless shirt.

Thanks guys for the quick reply, I have seen some other folders people have adapted but I was more wondering about the original chinese style side folder on a wood stocked gun, sounds like it's a no go.

I've only ever fired a type 81 with the woods stock a couple years ago.... I was impressed with how it handled.
