Update: Dumped 300-400 rounds downrange today, we had two people feeding it mags round the clock at one point. Not a single hiccup as expected. The underfolder isn't unpleasant in terms of recoil at all, the T81 is a soft shooting gun to begin with. Nor does the wire stock smacks your chin like some claims, a chin weld works perfectly fine and a paracord wrap makes it even better.

The larger mag release paddle makes one-handed mag changes much easier. The magwell on my gun is tight though, so I had some trouble inserting and dropping my friend's magazine from his T81 SE which wasn't sanded down like mine.

As expected, the top part of the underfolding buttplate sometimes dig into your clothes when you shoulder it from low ready, and always digs into you from high ready. Quite annoying in the hoodie season but for summer (tshirts) and winter (hard shell jackets) it's a non-issue.

The palm swell/finger groove cut into the handguards does place your fingers closer to the barrel versus the older models, and after 30 rounds it'll start to feel warmer than the standard T81 handguard design, not something I felt on the regular rifles.

The slant comp works nicely for me when rotated to the right by one notch. It compensates the sideways muzzle movement caused by a right handed shooter and allows for quicker followup shots. I'd imagine a lefty can rotate it one notch to the left.

Does your email come from CP or TI informing you of the shipment? What I mean by CP is does it seem like TI has to submit your email to CP, cause I get people mess up my email all the time.

Sounds like someone should be swapping folding stocks and tell us how they fit and/or how to modify them?

There's tons of parts in the US for AK related firearms, modifications could open up a huge world of parts for the T81 which is pretty scarce for parts.
 
It isn't very accurate - 3 1/2" groups at 75y. And I have cut myself on sharp internal edges when field stripping.
Came out of Lebanon when the Israelis invaded years ago. Sanitized. No national markings, only a serial number. North Korean, but not NK standard issue. PLO gun.
 
Shot a Romanian AK in the US, looked like it did 2 tours in the Baltics and was picked up from the ground...

Ran perfectly. Guy at the gun range who rented it said it's the one gun they've never cleaned. Made for reliability, not fit/finish or putting on your wall like a $6000 Over Under.
 
These things are what they are. Folks shouldn't expect the fit and finish of, say, a Browning Superposed.
Back in the day, I carried that AKM in a box under the seat of my snowmobile. I knew if I needed it, it would deliver.
Nowadays, these things are safe queens.
That is why rifles like these T81Ms are desirable. They represent classic East Bloc service rifles, the technology used, and are freely usable, at least for the time being. These AKish rifles use metal pressings. Such manufacture just isn't practical for the low production runs needed for the Canadian domestic market. That is why we have CNC machined 180 based clones.
If you compare an AKM to an AR, the technology is very different, just as the societies that produced them are different.

Hopefully one day with a change of government and a redo of our gun legislation, perhaps TI can bring us some of these fine AKs for us to buy and use freely at our leisure
Then we can have a thread like this where we talk about the AK instead of the type 81 :)

In the meantime, one of these 81s is as good as it gets for this sort of rifle.
Congratulations to TI for bringing them in. Things might be a bit chaotic right now, but it won't take long to settle down.

Nothing in the junkmail. Both orders are processing, with RCMP verification completed on March 18th. I have tried contacting the traditional methods, email and voice msg but have not had luck getting through or a response to either.
When I type in my email to check my order status on the website it works fine, safe to assume my email address is correct in your system?
 
What sort of up/down play are you guys seeing in your underfolders out on the box? Locked up solid, couple thousands of an inch wiggle, half an inch wiggle, etc.?

Not my first type 81, familiar with the typical fit//finish, however experience with underfolders is pretty limited. I realize these will loosen up and wear with use

No visible side wobbles for me.
1-2 degrees of up/down wiggle which translates to 1/4 of an inch or so at the buttpad end.
Measured by laying the rifle flat and wiggled the stock to its two extremes.

Both shouldering the rifle and the recoil itself will force the stock to stay put in the lower position anyways.
