All purpose semi shotgun?

Exactly Winchester believe that the Turks can produce their guns for them at least..

Since it is semi we are talking about here There is no winchester x3 semi made in turkey plus the turks don't fully produce the sxp pump shotgun they are involved with. They assemble them for sure
Cannot recall another winchester product they are involved with other than the sxp. Chime in if there is
Cheers

Your best off to get a Browning Auto 5 - Old school, full metal receiver. One should expect to pay $500-$600 for one in good shape and ensure you have a vent rib down the barrel. This is a good resell feature. You really cant go wrong.. Cheers

I keep an eye once in a while for them, i have red somewhere that to cycle light target load reliably you need a “light” model with the 2 3/4 chamber. Dont know if thats true

Thanks for everyone input i will do some research and check out the model you guys recommend and see if i can get a great deal somewhere for boxing day

Great shotgun for sure...however you have to learn your 'ring set up' to ensure reliable cycling. You have to set it for 2&3/4 or 3" or steel or lead or slugs...fiddling with them can be a pain and takes some skill to swap them around...that is the only downside of that old, but fine Browning...

Best find one with factory installed choke tubes that is designed for steel shot. Old ones are not

Own several shotguns in different makes and models, i purchased an almost new 930 with 28 inch and a deer slayer rifles barrel for 450$.I shot several rounds of trap with the light loads and haven taken multiple geese and ducks all without a single problem. I think it's a lot of gin for the money.

Several rounds of trap, and multiple ducks and geese isn't much of a test. Make it a hundred rounds of trap, and a hundred ducks and geese, and that would demonstrate a little about reliability.

Now me I would not buy a gun for waterfowl that cannot shoot at least 3"
Cheers

Myself I wouldn’t either. But the OP made no mention of waterfowl or an interest in it.

For me I’d say this would represent an incredible value, assuming gun functions and is as it should be, for someone looking to shoot some clays, small game, upland birds, and fire the odd slug or buckshot. Buy deer barrel and even more so for the deer stuff.
I prefer the high gloss wood on the 1100’s but OP mentioned synthetic.

Better to buy a used X3 than a new piece of crap IMO. $800 would buy a 3" if you did some looking
OR my bud does everything including his deer hunting with an old remington 1187 which I have also but if I was to keep one semi to do everything it would be a X3
Cheers

Can you give me some insight on why everyone wants and suggests one with a 3" ?

I've never used or purchased 3" shells in my life for clays

Only 3 inch in my tactical shotguns

You missed this then. I quote
I am not interested in hunting anything else at the moment but id still like to option if i ever get to it.
Plus it would be a hard resell for him if he doesn't like it not being 3"
Just look at the number of bumps that proves it
Cheers

Clays is not the issue
He is looking for one semi to do it all hunting requirements and clays is he not
Cheers

I do shoot a bit of clay from time to time. In fact i shoot more clay than i hunt. Im looking for a semi that does it all, clay, hunt and carry for bear defense. It will most likely be carried in bear country and shoot a bit of clay once in a while. But id like to be able to huny with it if i ever get to it. I must say im leaning toward the Mossberg 930. For the price this seems like a good choice, last year i shot about 800-1k light target load in the whole year so i dont need something to withstand 10k round for 10year

I reckon you'll do fine with the Mossy 930. They make a 26" barreled walnut stock version that looks good to me.

I doubt you’ll ever have issues with a 930 either. It should be a perfectly serviceable shotgun for many years and any use a shotgun could be used for. Most importantly if you like it and shoot it well that’s all that matters in the end. Good pick

You’re right. I suppose I did miss that. Made the mistake of interjecting personal view points into someone else’s search I suppose. If I personally where looking for the least expensive semi auto for a variety of purposes then I’d buy that 1100 listed. Damn good price for what’s for sale, shame the wood stock is gone but not the end of the world. I could probably hunt the next ten years without worrying about 3” shells if I for some reason could only have that one gun, no harm or handicap either. I admit my preference is for 1&1/4 or even 1&3/8 ounce of steel at slower speeds which pretty much means 3” where I shop for ammo, but I imagine I could live with 2&3/4” loads available just fine. Most ducks I shoot are feet away from touching down in the decoys.

To each there own. It was just a suggestion. Looks like he’s keen on the 930, which should serve well.

Keep an eye on Cabela's. The 930 Al purpose has been going on sale frequently. I've seen go between $499 - $520.

Agree with you 100%. Here waterfowl shots are normally long so I need all the help I can get which is why I also own a 10ga :)
take care
