All Sako models

Finnbear Deluxe in the still excellent 30-06, 1984 vintage. It's weight makes it easy to shoot, not so much to carry all day. Well built, good looking and shoots tight groups.

Here's my Sako 85 in .270 Win. Scope is a Swarovski Z6 1.7-10x42 in Sako one-piece (no bases) low ring mounts. Total weight of the rig as shown is 8.6 lbs., about as heavy as I want my hunting rifles to be.

wow . that's a really nice rig
is the 8.6 with the magazine , cause that is light for that set up

Wasn't aware that 85's were made with Hinged floorplates. Is that common to that version? What is it?

Normally I'm on team floorplate but the 85 has the best dbm running

It's an 85 deluxe. You can see the floorplate release just ahead of the trigger guard.

As for myself, I'm definitely not on Team dbm.;)

Some very nice Sakos posted here. I've owned a ton of L and A series guns over the years.
Time to balance things out with some Sakos rebarreled with cheap take-offs...LOL
Top to Bottom
L461 rebarreled to 221 Fireball with a stainless Savage sporter 22-250 take-off.
L461 rebarreled to 223 with an unfired Rem 700 223 take-off.
AI Varmint rebarreled to 221 Fireball with a stainless Savage 22-250 fluted take-off.
All of these were bought with hopelessly pitted 222 barrels.

The first owner I bought it from said he special ordered or somehow waited for one with extra nice wood. I purchased it with 10 rounds down the barrel.

Should really take some better pictures.

I currently own one Sako. It's the L61R Finnbear Deluxe. It was originally chambered in the 338 Winchester Magnum. I had it re-barreled in the 7mm Remington Magnum, 26" Bob Jury stainless steel, plus a Henry Rempel muzzle brake. I had it for 2.5 years and haven't fired a shot out of it, the barrel is still new.

What happened to the 338 barrel?
