There are 5 shot Enfield mags that were factory, yes.

I don't doubt it, but I've never seen one. The 10 rounders are far more prevalent, and commonly used.

Bein from Ontario where dogs run our deer and hearing all 10 shots from somebodies old 10 foot long lever gun at the deer in front of those dogs is a daily occurrence for 2 weeks of the year.
That's awsome LOLhill-billy automatics (lever guns)....
Bein from Ontario where dogs run our deer and hearing all 10 shots from somebodies old 10 foot long lever gun at the deer in front of those dogs is a daily occurrence for 2 weeks of the year. The guys that use pumps and semi's all carry at least 2 spare clips, and bein thought of as a bunch of rednecks by the rest of Canada for how we hunt. You'd be totally amazed what those other 6 shots can do after you missed the first 4, alot of things can go wrong between you and the critter just sayin, keep this in mind... Now everybody proceed to bash me.
Yeah, lots of guys don't get it. In Ontario we can party hunt and when someone yells "DEER DOWN!", it quite easily could be plural form of "deer". More ammo can easily mean more meat.
Huh? Who are you talking about/to? Who said anything about spraying bullets into the forest? I thought we were talking about deer hunting here. Your one of those guys who think their way is the only way, everyone else is a slob right?
LOL, I'd be having veitnam flashbacks, and I've never even been there
You gotta admit, dogs give you a huge advantage. I'd love to be able to use them here, particularily on yotes. A friend that owns a feedlot has an old family picture with three Jed looking dudes, two or three wolfhounds, and a pile of yotes...and ya, they use lever guns (Model 88). That's awsome LOL
No bashing from me. We push for big bucks and coyotes and extra volume has never cost us. Limited volume on the other hand, has.
One shot one kill hunting, with something standing there......Boring!lol
OP, no FMJ and run your 10 round mags if you want. That's why you had them made right?
Just wanna clear some things up for people who see the way we hunt as blasphemy. You gotta be way more organized to hunt like this than you do to go sit in a stand, you gotta have your watchers set up strategically, gotta have your runners/doggers on the right lines to get through the bush and hit the right holes to jump the deer out or shoot em before they get out. When a deer does jump you have a max of 3 seconds in a good spot too know where your other runner last barked, too know how close and which direction the watcher closest to you is in, pull your gun up and get on the deer, see where it's goin and pick the holes out too shoot through. No problem right? Go try it.
Nobody "gets it" unless they've been there and tried it.
With a good crew of unselfish guys that know the area, results are pretty great. By far my favorite way to hunt.
I've brought out lots of guys that want to try it, but most of them find it very overwhelming. When they're in the bush and the shooting starts, they think every bullet just missed them lol. Plus, they're lost all the time.
Unselfish is correct, there's always that one guy who tries too hunt for himself when he's spose to be runnin out with the other guys. I know what you mean though you gotta have a good crew who know how to work together too then deer start fallin down all over the place, by far my favorite way to hunt as well... OP you should get together with some folks and try it!
Clips? Really?Well holy moly besides Dutch and Captonion I think you're the only person who agrees with this kind of huntin! I use a pump 30-06 and carry 3 clips with me. To the OP you got 10 round clips use em it's better too have em and not need em then need em and not have em!
Well there's #1
I have had the opportunity to hunt over hounds many years ago in Northern Ontario, and it was quite enjoyable!

Clips? Really?
I'm really surprised so many people actually like this kind of hunting.
Wow Lex, I was raised racist too after a black man murdered one of my family but all of us learned to be more tolerant and accept that skin color does NOT dictate values !
Back to the question about FMJ for hunting in ontario. I vote illegal, at the very least unethical but pretty sure it is banned for big game at the very least. Somebody with more time on their hands please chime in after researching this sh!t.
Cheers

Like is an understatement, I prefer this to all other forms of deer hunting... Even though I sit in a stand from time to time, I don't consider it hunting. It's more like waiting than it is hunting..
Yes, and I was tought to call "African Americans" N******. And that's what I'll always call them. Get with the times man.
I don't think you really understood the sarcasm in Lex' post. The internet doesn't convey that very well. He was just trying to get across how stupid the whole "Dis is da way ma granpappy tawt me to do sumtin so's i's always gunno do it dis way and d'ere t'aint nutin u's can du abut it neider!" attitude displayed by the previous poster.
About the ammo, I have the time but i think i'm gonna look at nekkid girls instead. I also think you're wrong and that it is in fact legal. I've seen it used and you'd be surprised at how ethical it can be on deer sized came when used in a full power cartridge. Someone will settle this by posting up the info at some point and we'll both have been able to spend more time doing something more important than argueing about it online. In the end it'll be a win-win for us both.![]()
