thanks for the advice. i think i will go with the 300 win mag.
being a lefty i have a few less choices.
i am leaning toward tikka t3 varmint stainless and browning a bolt II. i like the way they both felt at the gunshop this past weekend.
i am probably going with the tikka t3 varmint stainless.
am i correct in thinking that because it is a heavier rifle, 8lbs, with an approx 24" heavy barrel that this could reduce muzzle jump and handle recoil of a 300wm a bit better? or am i totally out to lunch. Thanks again guys
i am a lefty who has been shooting a right handed rifle for too long. i have recently sold my 30.06 which is the rifle i graduated to when i was 15 and have been shooting for the last 13 years. it has been my all purpose big game gun here in BC. i used it for black bear, elk, and blacktails here on the island. mulies and moose on the mainland. i also do some shooting but i do not reload.
i have been waiting to buy a new left handed rifle and was going to go with another 06, because it is all i know, but during my wait i have had time to look around this site, the net, and seek others opinions, and the more interested i have become in the 300 win mag.
am i nuts for considering the switch
? is this the next logical step up from the 06 in terms of performance? i guess i want to know if this is more efficient but wont take off my shoulder. is the 300 win mag that cartridge? or should i look at the 300 RUM, 7mm mag, 280 or something else? not interested in short mags because of availability and cost of ammo.
thanks for your time.
