am i shooting too much?

wow i never knew that, i wish this is the kind of thing they teach you during your pal course. should i just run a patch or two of hoppes in and then some oil in between range trips though or you guys just don't touch the bore until it needs it?

i have a stevens 200 in .308 and been taking it to the range on once a week, i shoot about 80-100 shots each trip, this is in the spand of 4-5 hours. i usually do 5 shot in a few mins then let the barrel cool. i also do a thorough cleaning after every trip though. am i too hard on teh barrel? i don;t want to have to change it after 6 months

:D
Check your wallet & the ATM.

If the balance is $0.00 & the wifey is giving you the "evil eye" every time you look at the gun room door you're shooting too much.

I do nothing to the bore. If your guns tend to rust, a little oil in the bore wouldn't hurt, just make sure you patch it dry before shooting it. I wouldn't use Hoppes to clean a barn door hinge, there are much better products than that on the market to clean a bore.

you should stick to cleaning every 50 rounds I own over a dozen rifles and each one reacts to cleaning different you may just have to find what works for your gun I clean mine every 50 to 60 rds or if I do not plan on using that rifle for some time to go 200,300,400 plus rds sounds high to me but to each there own what better way to protect your investment

Foaming bore cleaner, Sweet's 7.62, Shooter Choice, Parker-Hale 009, JB Paste, Butch's Bore Shine all work. I have not tried Montana Extreme or the stuff made by Barnes but might next time I run out of something(at the rate I clean it could be years). If you want to remove copper Sweet's is my go to bore cleaner after I use a foaming bore cleaner. Sweet's will let you know if you need to clean it again.
Use a Dewey coated rod with the proper brass jag and a snug patch from the breech end. And use a bore guild.

i only clean my rifles/shotguns after going for a shoot

2 patches to clean the barrel and one oiled just for good measure.
and a wipe over with an oily rag

if i know its going into storage.. or if i havent shot it for about 3-4 weeks then i will break it out and clean it down properly
