Am I the only one that cringes at the term "shotty"

First off, I'm not a firearm terminology nazi. I don't care of someone calls a magazine a clip, a cartridge a shell, or any of the other interchangeable references out there.
For some reason, though, every time I hear the term "shotty" it takes every ounce of control I have not to turn into "that guy" who sticks their nose into someone else's business. Is there a "shotty anonymous" group out there I should join?

I do not use the term unless I am very drunk with my gun buddies... I have a Mossberg 500 roadbloacker and that is more a slug gun I have not fired bead in a roadblocker and was told it may be a hinky shot... but they love rifled slugs.

I am more inclined to call mine a bear basher...
