Am I the only one that cringes at the term "shotty"

Yeah, "shotty" seems appropriate to FUDs with lower IQ's

I shoot a lot of skeet and clays and even the fuds don't use the term.

However.... best one I have heard was when I was talking to a couple female York Region cops in a bar a few years ago. They were using the term "crowd pleaser". Love it.

I'm cringing at the space we are wasting in the B&G shotgun forum. We could be talking about actual Black and Green Shotguns instead of slang terms for them.

I love the term

We've worked hard at teaching safety to our 6 year old daughter while not having her think of firearms as big scary forbidden things.

We put the emphasis the person being in control of the firearm and not the firearm being the culprit when used wrong... the responsibility lays with the hand not the tool in the hand....(wish the rest of the world saw it that way).

So to impart the not scary thing I've allowed my daughter to name all our guns, it was her idea and we went along with it... the first thing she named was our shot gun... Shotty shotgun, she then went on to name my two SKSs Igor and Sochi our .22 is Lucy and her pink BB gun is Pinky Dinky Do.

She knows safety, she knows care and control and she knows firearms are fun but she is responsible for what happens with them when they are in her hands

So yeah love our Shotty shotgun name and love that it implies something less than dark, scary and forbidden.... because its just some wood and metal that goes bang for F sake :)

Peace

Your 6 year old knows Russian names...and how to use them with humor as they are correctly paired to Russian guns? I'll buy things that never happened for $100 please!!!

Maybe YOU picked the names for them but a 6 year old both picking those names and remembering them, okay there :).

Ooohhh man

For me it's scopes.
It's a fricken 3 to 9 by 40
NOT A 3 by 9 by 40

What makes me totally crazy is guys that actually know what they are talking about call it a 3 by 9 like Jerry Miculeck.

I just cant take it man. I just cant take it.

You are not. I find it jarring to hear, esp among persons who ostensibly should know better. I feel that sloppy thinking sometimes can lead to sloppy actions and results, and where firearms are concerned a certain precision in thought and deed should be striven toward.

JMHO, but you asked. Right there with you.

Amazing how such a seemingly insignificant issue can occasion such a tide of comment. Terminology matters to some, and to others they couldn't care less. This is too bad.
