Am I the only one that cringes at the term "shotty"

I think it's normal to have some words that we just naturally hate. Just don't expect everyone else to lose sleep over it lol.

Beats the hell out of "shotizzle"... which I will now be using to piss people off :D

My wife thinks calling a shotgun a "shotty" makes it sound so cute and cuddly and thinks it would be a great name for a puppy...

I have a Grizzly Mag. I call it a clippyshotty. I can reload it faster than a tubeyshotty.

If it's your gun you can call it a shotty or even the Magic Flame Stick of Thundering Death for all I care.

Just as long as you understand that rest of the world will think you're a bit of a wanker for doing so.

So all you guys that call your shotguns a shottie, what do you call your handguns?

A handie? ;)

Handie? Thats just dumb. Its called a "gat", and used for bustin' caps in punk asses. The correct technique is to hold it elevated above your head sideways, while pumping it downward as you shoot. It is important to remember that this technique is primarily used as a "show of force" when you don't actually want to harm your victim as it is almost guaranteed to miss the target.

I dont know, shotty, shotgun, boom stick, sidewalk howitzer. Call it what you want, it's your gun. Slang will always be apart of the spoken laugage. I personally own a shotgun, but the guys at work ask me if I took the shotty out when I went shooting.

I wonder if it's in any way a regional thing or do you think it's used equally across the country? Maybe some research in the form of a poll is warranted.;)
