I love the term
We've worked hard at teaching safety to our 6 year old daughter while not having her think of firearms as big scary forbidden things.
We put the emphasis the person being in control of the firearm and not the firearm being the culprit when used wrong... the responsibility lays with the hand not the tool in the hand....(wish the rest of the world saw it that way).
So to impart the not scary thing I've allowed my daughter to name all our guns, it was her idea and we went along with it... the first thing she named was our shot gun...
Shotty shotgun, she then went on to name my two SKSs Igor and Sochi our .22 is Lucy and her pink BB gun is Pinky Dinky Do.
She knows safety, she knows care and control and she knows firearms are fun but she is responsible for what happens with them when they are in her hands
So yeah love our
Shotty shotgun name and love that it implies something less than dark, scary and forbidden.... because its just some wood and metal that goes bang for F sake
Peace
