I'd like to purchase an ambidextrous AR-15 parts kit, an all in one package preferably. Is there such a parts kit available? Any recommendations where to purchase?

Regards,

Regards,

Are you a lefty? - the only things that really make sense is an ambi mag release and safety. The BAD lever from Magpul is really designed for rightys.

Or...
You could skip the parts route, and buy a Knight's SR-15E3 while you can.....

On the BAD, you can use the right hand to close the bolt, making it better than changing your grip and pressing in the stop with your trigger finger.

Deckard, not a bad sugestion there, never thought of it that way.

One final addition woudl be the truly ambi charge handel made by Badger ord.

Thanks. It seemed to be a new way of looking at it. I know the intended function, but since I have trained myself to drop a magazine with my right thumb, the release (as it were) is about a centimetre away. I see that the BAD is pictured with a Norgon, so perhaps this can shave some more time off too. I just have never had a Norgon. I do use the Power Custom Oversized Ambi release but find it odd. It is reverse to the Norgon and cannot be used with the left trigger finger. I don't really recommend it. If you hold the rifle by the mag well you can reach around and hit it, but really, pass on this one.

I want to learn more about the Badger handle. I was thinking about a Dlask extended handle. Comments?

For the record, the BAD is pictured with a Norgon ambi mag release, not sure if the BAD would interfere with the operation of the norgon, as its designed to be actuated with the Left index finger.

As to charge hanedles, I have used Dlask, the C-7 latch, and the Badger. IMHO the Badger is the way to go if you can find it followed by the C7. They aint Cheap as I think I got the last 3 from Wolferine and they were close to $80 each.

Dlask looks like this:

Can someone please explain to me how the AR15 charging handle is NOT ambidextrous? I've been left handed all my life and can't see how either a righty or lefty could have an issue using the OEM handle.

Yeah. That looks totally unlikely to break or bend at the slightest opportunity. :bangHead:

I find that every part designed to solve some perceived problem seems to create several other more serious problems but in the name of newer and cooler bits nobody seems to consider this. Mr Stoner knew what he was doing, just learn to use what is there and life will be good.

I think this is have been talk about before. I'm a lefty too and grasping the OEM charging handle is not pain in the ass but it does throw your shooting stance if you're clearing jams and malufuctions.

Ambi bolt catch is what every lefty needs though! :D

Mr. Suputin:

I will do my best to answer your questions in a constructive, none confrontational manner.

Im not sure what your training and back ground are (you seem to have a very good grasp of supressed fire) and I by no means "in the industry" however, in the last course I took, we were encoraged to grab the charge handle from the strong side only, as an expedient method to accuate the charge handel durring stopages and other under other situations. Based on the optic set up I was using at the time, the "reach over" was not an expedient option, so I set about finding alternatives.

That particular picture or the C7 latch your esposing the fragility of, in my understanding, came from a canadian forces military rifle. It has several thousand rounds on it, and has been painted at least twice, and was subject to all the harsh treatment those rifles and carbines see, and still seems to do the job effectively, and in one piece.

YMMV

respectfully yours

Belfred,
Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm going to be making my own custom AR instead of buying a complete firearm.

Thanks for the pictures. That definitely helps in selecting AR parts

That is cheaper than you will get elsewhere, believe me. Plus try getting parts from a dealer. I put a custom order in writing from one of the major dealers above for said parts and have been waiting, as it were, for four years. In other words, custom part orders are shreaded.

The new Norinco CQ is ambidextrous and has cloned the Norgon. Plus it is cheaper than building unless you are lucky.

Yes, I was originally going to purchase a Norinco CQ 556, but then thought I would appreciate the AR more if I built it and spent the time.
If custom part availability is as bas as you say (4 years... yikes), I may just wait till P&D receives their new order of Norinco's.

The part situation is getting better, but rarely can you get everything from one place. I really am not waiting four years to be honest. I gave them about 18 months before I started looking elsewhere. The four years is more rhetorical. Officially they have the order form, but I moved on. By the way, Questar is the new source. Building can be fun, but if you add up all the postage for this part and that, you can easily pay more than something off the shelf.

What optic were you using out of curiosity?

The above was my set up, however with a KAC 600 install, which left no room to reach over for a Left handed shooter

In that picture you can see the Abmi Charge handel, and as a left handed shooter very easy to manipulate it on the strong side with a thumb or knuckle.

Hope that helps.
