American Precision Arms "Paragon"

If you read the whole thread, I think you'll find that there were quite a few of us that "took exception" to it.

You mean you, Jerry and half a post of Paperslayer - if that makes it "quite a few of us" then I guess it's not the same "quite a few" as I'm used to...

Ah... I see your error. You were just counting accounts that posted. I was including all the voices in my head!

How much just for the rifle?

Besides the optic, I'm not Really seeing the demand, or if that is really worth the price at all...Wouldn't a $2000 remington be more than capable of the same thing, after all the work is done?

These are not ruggedised scopes so if you need a scope that can handle rough treatment ie dragged through the countryside bouncing over sticks and rocks, these are not the scopes for you.

I noticed you didn't leave the Sightron on your Savage for your tests ;)

vid 1 - soak test. As I said, not worth repeating cause corrosion isn't going to happen in 30mins no matter the rifle

but if your scope fills up with water...............

Different clients demand different standards.

Absolutely. The tests I did were about the rifle and how a plastic fantastic would hold up. It did surprisingly well.... maybe too well for some :)

I know the Sightron line stands up to the use of competition shooting. Lots of users globally so that much is certain. Even 50BMG target shooters so it can handle the recoil and blast. But they are not designed to build houses with. They are scopes where optic qualities and mechanicals are important.... They work just fine. Many other brands of scopes aren't used in the competition world... there are reasons for that too.

As for surviving in the rain, 6 hrs of Chilliwack downpour told me all I needed to know. We don't shoot F class underwater so submersion if of little interest. Although it wouldn't surprise me if the scopes would handle it as well.

Some optics brands put their "focus" in other areas - some do it well, some not so well. The consumer decides what is best for them.

Buy the gear that suits your needs and likes. But keep an open mind about what other goods can provide you. Maybe a different direction might just lead to a more successful journey.

And yes, I have worked with USO scopes.
Enjoy...

Jerry
