Anyone know for sure where I can score some 4.6x30mm ammo for an HK MP7A1?

I heard TSE had some, but a counter-kid tells me "they won't have any more for 2 years, because some law enforcement agency in Ontario is buying it all."

Looking for a solid lead. Thanks.

that Ontario police agency is peel regional. their tac-team just inherited 12 mp7s from a private security firm, and ordered 40,000rds to go with it.

if only...

Exactly what private security firm was qualified to purchase a dozen MP7s? That's unnerving to say the least, given the rep these firms have been getting lately.

from what i gathered, they came from whatever company is hired for securing the nuclear facilities around toronto. Even buying in bulk though, he said the ammo costs $1 per round.

Anybody else think that a police organization using more exotic calibers is just wasting public money?

I guess if they bought a bunch of porsches instead of ford crown victoria's for squad cars the general public might catch on. So firearms is a way to have a little more fun (in a gunnut kinda way) with out too many people catching on.

:agree:

And to buy a dieling caliber on top of it. The 6.8 and 4.6 are going the way of the Dodo. They should of just bought C8 CQBs (11.5") hell 5.56 is a more powerful any ways

It's not like ammunition was a major PD expense you know...

It's probably 1-2% of their budget.

Am not sure what is the big deal about 4.6x30 ammo. Last time I bought some, it was 1200$ tax/shipping included for 2000 rds. That's not more than 5.56x45 in my book.

RUAG ammo is expensive whatever caliber you pick. I do think they are the best ammunition manufacturer but their price is in consequence....

Thank you.

WTF is 4.6x30mm, a snail popping round?

Does it even hurt if you get hit by it?

IIRC correctly the C8 CQB is 10", Americans use the Colt Commando 11.5" Seals use LMT 10.5" (?) w/DD RIS 2 Rail. Nonetheless I agree they should go with C8 CQB or maybe KAC PDW's :dancingbanana:

The Agency in question has plenty of C8's, both standard and CQB's. They have found a requirement for the calibre and weapon and likely received a very good deal in the guns.

As for 4.6 going the way of the Dodo, check you facts. There are some very big users of the weapon such as the Federal German Armed Forces and now Norway. I'm not a big fan of the caliber but it's far from dead and getting more popular all the time. It's not a good choice for a primary weapon but does fill a limited role for it's intended purpose.
