Ammo for IPSC/IDPA

9MM - Saeco truncated lead cast 125 gr in a Tanfoglio "L" model
Felix Soft Lube sized .357

.45acp - H&G 200 gr LSWC cast in a Para SSP sized .452

Take Care

.45 - 200gr Lead SWC
.40 - 180gr Lead Roundnose
.40 - 180gr Frontier TC

(For major score in standard I'm pretty sure IPSC is still at power factor 170 while IDPA is a little lower. I think it's 165 for IPSC open only.)

Both have identical power factors calculated the same way. Mo major/minor in IDPA. 9MM must make 125, >40 cal 165

Major PF in IPSC (for Open, Standard, Modified & Revolver Divisions) is 170.

USPSA Major PF is 160.

IDPA CDP and ESR Division PF is 165000. All other Divisions is 125000.

Do you think there is significant difference in recoil between 125 and 137/139? If there is it is not significant from my experience. I load my lead bullets as close to the line as possible, around 134PF which is pretty light. Any lower and I run the risk of having a "to light load" and not meeting PF in a match.

I can tell right away, I can actually see the slide slowing down using light (125pf) loads, as the USP has a heavier slide than some. I am using the 134pf ammo Combat masters makes, and it is a world of difference than the WWB 147gr, 145pf ammunition! I am going to try some 132pf 147gr ammunition combat masters in making now and see how it works for me.

+1, two different brands of duty ammo were 137pf (Win-Ranger 147gr), and 139-140 (Fed-Hydra-shok), out of my pistol.

Remember guys, it's just a game, just like any other.....
