It's against my believes to buy a Chinese rifle. Does anybody else make a m14? I like the EBR stock but I don't want a Chinese rifle in it. What are my options.

Some people can't be bought off easily. Funny, whenever someone comes here looking for a Springfield the Norinco guys jump in like they are losing someone to the dark side. Like it was personal. I've toyed with owning a Norinco but after handling them I just can't bring myself to. So yes it was worth 5 X the money to me. I don't have any NC Star scopes either.

Where did anyone in this thread say anything of the sort?

Springfield is the way to go if you dont want a Norc..but you will pay a premium price. A Springfield is way out of my reach, but even if I had the money I wouldnt buy one. I dont believe they are worth the price they command.........its all about labels in the end.
I like to think Im putting food on the tables of those little Chinese kids, after a hard day in the Norinco factory.

If Chinese is against your morals why go for a spring field ? If you are gonna dish out get a LRB cry once they say ! Anyway a Springfield is only as good as a tuned m305 some are better some are worse the old usgi ones are far better but the new ones arnt worth it cry once and get a LRB or a SEI

jog on.

The guy doesnt seem to know a heck of a lot about the M14 type rifles, Stevo is giving him a perspective on his purchase that he may not be aware of.

and as for taking it personally? Well, no one asked for your life story, but thats exactly what we got.

I would ask that you try, handle and fire a Norinco M14 first if you haven't already.
I have handled and shot both a Norinco and Springfield M1A and I can tell you there is not all that much difference to be had.

If you have already had experience with a Norinco M14 and are well informed then I'll gladly shut up lol

Cheers!

If your against buying things from China your might want to reevaluate your buying. I'd bet 90-95 percent of what you buy comes from China. Don't try to convince yourself that if you don't buy a Chinese Nork that your doing someone a favour.

The differance between a norc and a LRB is night and day. The lrb is smooth and well fit, the norc even after you trick it out (which costs more then the lrb to fully do) its still a rough action in comparison. Its worth every penny you spend. Most lrb arms are tack drivers out of the box, there is a reason the usmc picked them up as marksmen rifles.

It must be pointed out, that once the minor flaws are dealt with the Norinco represents a far better value for your dollar by a significant margin over the Springfield. Almost everything inside the electronic device you used to post on this forum was made in China and since they actually build some pretty decent rifles, why not give them more money?

I have two Norincos, however the next m14 style rifle will be built on a LRB receiver.

The Springfield M1A cast receiver is made in Quebec Canada.

"As of February, 2004, Springfield Armory, Inc. M1A receivers are made by Alphacasting, Inc. in St-Laurent, Quebec, Canada for Springfield Armory, Inc. Alphacasting, Inc. makes the M1A receiver by the lost wax investment casting method. In business since 1991, it is a precision casting firm that makes parts from aluminum, bronze, and many grades of carbon and stainless steels. At Springfield Armory, Inc., all basic rifle assemblers have a minimum of two years experience assembling rifles before they are allowed to assemble rifles on their own. A rifle is test fired with five rounds for function and has to function through all five rounds or it doesn't get shipped. If it fails for any reason, it gets torn down and rebuilt. Then the rifle is tested for five rounds again."

y'know...to answer the thread. If you want to buy anything but a Norc. Go for it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your purchase or intention. Same as a bolt action rifle. If you don't like a Remington 783, then buy a Lazzeroni, Mauser or any other high end rifle. Just don't go around bragging it up that the gold plated sight or trigger makes it shoot better than all the little people's rifles.

Me....I'm perpetually cheap. I bought a Parker Hale and can shoot through the eye of a needle at 50 yards (well not really) and love my Norky because it was easy on the pocketbook. Once you bought whatever M14 platform you have chosen, let's go to the range and shoot them Zombie targets! :)

OP, I was with you on the whole not buying Chinese...until I gave some thought...and I kind of like gun powder and wasn't that invented by the Chinese?
I broke and bought the only Chinese gun I own, a norc m14...but damn if they don't sell out of those norc 45 combos I might just make it 2.
:)
