an official Gsg-16 with 9 inch barrel coming soon

i never had to call in when buying from a dealer even for a restricted.

I think he's referring to the new OIC measures that start May 18. You're going to need to call in every transfer for non restricted firearms. So if you buy before that then it's fine. But the shipment in June will be documented.

Was going to hold out and wait for reviews or at least hold it in store...but now I might just order it.

we are talking about calling, are you saying if i were to buy from a dealer after the 18th , i need to CALL in the CFC to confirm the transfer?

I think what he meant was that the June shipment will be documented by the dealer as per the OIC.

When/ if you decide to sell said documented firearm, you are required to notify the CFC about the transfer to generate a reference number. Whether you are required to disclose identifiable details of the firearm is ambiguous. You will have to disclose your name and PAL and the buyer name and PAL, from what I understand.

If you’re on the fence, I’d snag the Cabelas if it is indeed in stock.

I know what he meant of this first half of his post, I'm talking about his second half to do with calling.

I personally don't care whether it's registered or not, what i do care is the hassle of calling in. buying from a dealer before or after may 18th doesn't effect me so to save PST ($46) and Over size charges ($7.50) from cabelas, I will wait for a sponsor here.

I assumed anything sold after may 18 will be registered to you and you would have to call and complete transfer, I haven't bought restricted from a dealer in ages, but last time they called and put me on the phone and was done together

Just to be clear, this is part of C71 which was passed in June 2019. Yes, an OIC was used to bring this specific section of C71 into force (which is the sort of thing that OICs are supposed to be used for) but I fear if you call it "new OIC measures" it gives the impression that these new restrictions were brought in via an OIC with no legislation associated with it, like the May 1 Gun Ban, which is not the case. Unlike the Gun Ban, these new laws have passed all the normal processes that new laws require (introduced as a bill, debated, 2nd/3rd reading, etc etc).

Yes and No. First, if you are dealing with a business, the business deals with everything, you shouldn't have to do anything other than provide your information and wait for them to fill out the paperwork.

Even for Private to Private sales the buyer doesn't have to call in. Only the SELLER needs to contact the CFP to ensure the buyer's license is valid, at which point a reference number will be issued. There is no requirement for the Seller to keep that Ref. #, nor is there a requirement for the seller to provide said Ref. # to the buyer.

nope, like i said, i dont even call in for restricted now so its strange you were put on the phone.

btw, i bought 4 restricted in the last 6 months. 3 from dealers and 1 private which i had to call in to complete the transfer. luckily, BC is super fast, it took one day, some other provinces takes weeks, thats aggravation.

Yes, Ontario blows goats... waiting on a beretta vertec for the wife, been a couple weeks now, probably will be a couple more.

On a different note, seems like the prices of the dlask are coming way down, one just went on ee for $750... basically same price as new ones after tax and shipping

"Lots of people are willing to pay extra for the quality that is associated with the Dlask name. Just because YOU won't doesn't mean others won't, and it certainly doesn't mean people are going to sell guns they paid $900 for at a big loss just because you can get a cheap facsimile from the factory now."

funny you should say that. obviously the lister dont believe in the quote above, lol. and its still too high becos its used, no warranty.

Good eye.

Yeah that is cheap. I never thought of the no warranty part. Good point.

Looking at Dlask's website they were listed at 799.99, so $750 for a used one without the factory barrel (I see no mention of the factory barrel in the ad?) isn't a significant price drop, especially if you're on the hook for shipping (I didn't see shipping mentioned one way or the other in the ad).

The new registry in a week could also be impacting prices, if I had guns I knew I was going to sell I'd be looking to move them before then.

you said PAID so BC residents would pay be close to $900. like the old adage, the night is young. the factory 9" hasnt even hit my hot hands yet. i cant wait.

$150 off for a used gun with no warranty is not a significant price drop IMO... Especially when that used gun is still more expensive than the factory offering plus taxes. YMMV.
