An Update on Wanstalls M10x pre-order!

I'm not defending M+M Industries - that is squarely Mr. Meier's public relations problem to surmount. I am simply not indulging in the bashing of the company in the absence of any firm proof of their wrongdoing. Is it "right" for them to charge whatever the Canadian market will bear for their new and innovative product? Is it fair to the Canadian consumer? Many on CGN don't seem to think so, yet they don't bat an eye when TI pays peanuts for each T81 then charges a cool 300% mark-up on top of shipping and importation costs for the "privilege" of selling Canadians a 40 year old design. Is it OK for Canadian distributors to take advantage of their countrymen (Korth and the initial Colt Canada offering also comes to mind), but not our American cousins? Talk about a double standard! That is what I have a problem with. And yet there is not a shred of evidence that M+M plans to foolishly price themselves out of the Canadian market. Who's to say that their price for the M10X won't be "fair" in the context of servicing our market? You can't. At least not yet.

Do you have any idea what the mark-up is on Trijicon products by the time they hit dealer pricing in Canada? It is almost 100%. Are we getting ripped off by Trijicon? Should we boycott their products and string their distributor up by a lamp-post? Bring on the CGN Pitchfork Brigade - that'll sort 'em out!

The double-standard demonstrated by the "anti M+M" faction is patently absurd. And still, you persist.

And what of this grand scheme to simply import restricted M10Xs through the grey market, 3rd party importers? That'll show M+M.....or will it? Seems to me that whichever mastermind thought up that bit of vengeful purchasing forgot one minor detail. M+M still makes their profit margin and the only people you hurt are the Canadian distributor(s) and the dealers that you cut out of the process. Whoops....

Me, I much prefer to focus on the product rather than the politics, which is after all why most of us are here.

All of the above notwithstanding, I too enjoy the discourse or I wouldn't bother. I'm sure we can always agree to disagree over those post-shoot beers you mentioned. ��

How many manufacturers rub our faces in it, boast that we'll have a 'special' price and force reputable Canadian dealers to eat crow, as ifit was their miscommunication about price?

This is the part about this whole f* up that has people all up in arms. We all know we get hosed from other manufacturers as well but none of them have been so blatant about it.
 
Well, I certainly won't dispute that you fellas seem to be aggrieved. Over what, I'm not nearly so sure as no retail price has been set yet. But hey, let's not let facts get in the way of a good ''ole CGN lynching!

Well at least we all learned the new standard of 'élite' - watching dealer forums slavishly, whipping out a credit card to pre-order/pay for vapour ware, and celebrating being put over the barrel. It's Stockholm for some.

Gosh. You miss a lot. Breaking it down: it isn't about me, or you. It's more about the shytshow a manufacturer unleashed. As for 'envy' my collection is staggering by any measure. But again, it isn't about me. Or you. You want this to be personal. You don't have to go there.
 
Well, unlike some, I've never purported to be the sharpest knife in the drawer. Be that as it may, I am not in the least interested in entering into a personal pissing contest with anyone over what amounts to a difference of opinions on the Internet. I have far more important things to actually be worried about - like the insomnia that has me up at 3:00 AM....

I'm not going to call out Wanstalls intheir own forum, but I will suggest that nobody issues a one-sided retraction unless there is some blame to be accepted. On that premise, M+M Industries is likely not completely to blame for this particular "sh#t-show". But yet here we are again with your assertion that M+M must have started the ball rolling or are uniquely responsible for what has transpired. What if the shoe were actually on the other foot? Those are private buisness matters that you and I will never be privy to. Which begs the question as to why anyone cares, let alone gets wrapped around the axle about it....
 
Fair enough. I look forward to your reviews. Maybe that will show the crowd that the price is worth it. Any new gun is good news. Going back to my first entry point in this discussion, reasonably priced guns is good for all. More guns means it's harder to ban. That's about it.

Like any other rifle, the M10X will sink or swim based on the perception of value for one's hard-earned cash. I suspect that it is starting from a disadvantage in Canada given all of the bad press concerning the parent company. I think that it will be a real shame if the rifle fails in Canada for any reason other than its pure performance. Over-pricing by either M+M or the Canadian Distributor serves no one's best interests if the rifle flops.

I am sure that the M10X will find a market in Canada - heck, even the B&T APC 223 has managed to move (a few units). There are those like me, who will buy it because they are suckers for new designs. I will even admit to owning a KelTec RFB for a short time! But I digress. So some rifles wiĺl certainly sell, but the M10X won't supplant the T81 or CZ858 unless the retail price is the same or only marginally higher (say, within $200 CAD). Any more than that, and the M10X's enhanced features won't be worth the price of admission to your average, somewhat tight-fisted CGNer. At least that's how I see things. Hopefully M+M doesn't allow short-sighted greed to win out over longer-term market domination. We shall just have to wait and see.

Lol, I didn't even notice it the first time, now that you mentioned it and I watched a couple min again you're right, gotta be the worst background music choice aside from playing rap music. I don't know why people feel they need to put some music in the background, just the commentary and the sound of the gun is all most of us would want to hear.
