And the clock starts and is now complete!!

One of my references left for a two week trip to Jamaica yesterday! Kind of sucks! Another two weeks wasted. They did give me the phone number and extension for him to call as soon as he gets back.......

March 1st, did my phone interview today. Have called 1 reference to get him to call in. The other reference is in Jamaica until next Thursday. I will try to have him call Friday morning. Once the interviews are done does anyone have an idea as to how much longer the process takes?

I am now in the same boat - dropped my rpal application in the mail today (registered with receipt reqd). Hopefully the process will be faster and smoother than some I have been reading about

Next decision is a club to join - anyone who want's to make suggestions on club choice please feel free to post or pm me. I am in the Georgetown/Acton area so the west is the best choice.

Tick tick tick.......

Reference checks all done today - one step closer :D

I had mine in on the 2nd of feb now should only be another week accorfing to them, The best thing I found about this waiting time is it gives you time to research the guns you want and very little impulse buying is done. I now have the list and all the guns are paid for sitting at the store (Small town store great guy) just need papers to get them into my name. Lets see if the west is any faster with getting approval from the provinivcal CFO review.

My CGN posting cherry just got popped!

Great thread!

I completed my CFA course (challenge) on Dec 12/10. I eagerly waited for the mark to be approved which was stamped on Jan 18/11.

I expressed posted my PAL (NR) on Feb 2/11 and it was finally received and entered into the system on Feb 7/11.

So as of tomorrow, my 28 day waiting period is up!

I was interested in getting my restricted, but I decided to get the non-restricted first. It will be interesting to see how much less waiting time there will be compared to sjcottawa (which should be none if there were fair laws)

When I spoke to the cfo in alberta he said they push the non rest through it is a longer period for the restricted as they do the checks and call the refrences.

On a side note when talking to him he said they were still working on OCT's app's but he had me on the phone so he did it right then and there, one week and I should have my papers!!!!

Congratulations to those that have been issued their papers! I have done my interview and so has one of my references. The other one is still away in Jamaica and won't be back until Friday. I am hoping to get him to call in Friday morning. So close but yet so far....!!!!

You have a 28 day manditory waiting period
The process takes about 3 weeks after that.
Once you get your interview call, they will call all of your references same day.
Your License will arrive about a week after phone calls
The toughest part of this sport is the waiting, get used to it!!
That is just the start
Now you have to go through the club waiting/probation period and the purchase/transfer waiting period

Welcome!

I did not wait 7-8 weeks after I mailed mine in, they called me and my references 3-4 weeks after, that was about a week ago so it should be in the mail pretty soon!

Both references missed the call, if that happens, get your application number and get them to call in, otherwise you may wait weeks for them to call back.

Sorry I didn't get to see these posts until now.
It's Friday tomorrow so I hope your ref will be back.
However................
You could have asked him to call in from Jamaica (offering to pay the long distance charges) or better yet,
you should have asked the CFC to call him in Jamaica (if he could have provided you with a contact number.)

My brother (a ref) was in Egypt (before the revolution). I gave them his number there. Twenty minutes later, I checked and "Your application has been approved, your license issued etc............." I can't remember the exact terminology although I might have captured it in order to have it framed.

It's on it's way

Not as bad as I expected!!! I'm a happy guy!!!

It is an exciting feeling. I just received my license yesterday, can't stop staring at it. The big question now is "What's next?". I have a club lined up and a few firearms in mind. Now, I just have to pursued the wife to let me spend what I want to spend, not going to be easy ;)

I learned this from another member on here if you just buy one and then put it in the cabinet, it will spawn to 5 or 6 just tell the wife that story also remember it's easier to ask for forgiveness then to beg for permission. Also on a good note once you buy it you can't take it back so you have to keep it.
I got mine and even took the afternoon off of work to go get some ammo and guns ended up at home with 4 non restricted and waiting for a transfer for my glock gen 4

New App

Mailed March 14th didnt send it sig required as i didnt even think about it so now we wait and wait and wait somemore. Just called to see she said that it wasnt in the system yet so that means i guess we wait. :)
