And what about Speer HOT CORE?

Hot Cors have been a standard for eons. Target bullets they ain't, but they are excellent hunting bullets.
You have to work up the load fgor your rifle. No two, even identical rifles with consecutive S/N's will shoot the same ammo the same way. So nobody else's "recipe" will work the same way in your rifle.

Actually, my current 358 is a SS 700 BDL that Bevan King did for me, but I have had a 358 in a 760 in times past. I left it in the Yukon on my first trip there with a fellow who wanted it for his son.

Are you denying your love of pump action rifles? ;)

I like the hot-cor just fine. I

I've used them a fair amount in several cartridges and never had a problem with them.

Unless the OP's 8x57 just hates them for some reason, I see no reason to look for a fancier and much more expensive bullet.

They shoot really well in my 8X57 and 8mm/06.
Killed my first Moose in 1963 with an 8X57 loaded with the 170 Speer, one shot, one nice Moose...

Everyone knows that the pre-64 moose are not the same as the post-64 versions.
