angryness

Bam him, kick him in the ass and send him crying back to Albertaoutdoorsmen. He is obviously just looking to stir the pot.

Or maybe he has a weight problem

I think that'll be enough speculation for now.

Crazy.. I wonder who you are.. Obviously you know who I am.
Got enough guts to step forward??
And yes I do have a weight problem. In fact I have been struggling with it for my whole life. I have heard the nasty little comments made by ignorant people. I have felt the hate thrown about by folks. But you know that didn’t seem to bother me. (I was wrong) A person says "oh it just rolls of your back" But they are wrong a small chunk of every insult and embarrassment goes to the pit of your stomach and just sits there and grows until it reaches a boiling point.
I decided to do something about it myself. Still though I can feel the anger building up inside of me now when people make judgment calls on people just because of how they look. My life has gotten better but for many that may not have had the support I received it hasn’t. And for those folks, I will continue to stick up for them when they cant stick up for themselves.
Now if you have a problem with that and consider that "Stirring the pot" then feel free to bring it on. You know where to find me

Jamie

That'll be about enough of that too.

Congrats, 80lbs is a helluva feat, you should be proud!!!!

And yes getting of the couch was a big first step.
Its a tough road, but one I made myself. I couldnt have done what I have so far with out the support I have been fortunate enough to recieve.
Still have a ways to go, but like I said, I am headed in the right direction.
Thanks
Jamie

Yes, it is quite a feat and congratulations (seriously!) but i think we've hijacked the thread about enough.

I think we actually had a 'losing weight for the hunting season' thread - but this isn't it. Lets try to get back on topic, if anyone's got much else to add.

k well i will apologize for statement for calling her overweight but im still po'd about the ethics part

Ethics is your own personal decision.
If it was legal as per gov't regs,
then it's really none your business.

Foxer, you normally do a helluva job, but you've just spent half the thread being the "grammar police", maybe you can drop the Post Nazi thing for just a little bit?

Your job is to keep things under control, not dictate the direction you want a thread to go....and I personally think you've overstepped your boundaries already on this thread... maybe just sit back and relax for just a while...don't turn CGN into HuntShoot.com!!!!!

I like the fact that this thread now has 3 stars, even though it's just one big cluster #### :p If everyone had taken the time they spent writing posts for this thread and written those letters that greentips sticky'd instead, there'd be one big pile 'o mail in stockwell day's inbox right now

Ackley - we've ALWAYS had a 'no hijacks' policy. Sometimes a conversation will naturally lead into something else, but if people want to discuss something utterly unconcerned with the original post or theme of the post it's always been considered appropriate to start a new thread. It's impolite to the original poster to go off on a tangent and take over thier thread - and i think you'll have to agree that weight loss is rather far afeild from the ethics of shooting a cow attended by a calf :)

now - if we'd been talking about how fat the COW was... different story :D

No intent to be a 'topic nazi' - but it's just basic politeness not to steal someone's thread.

Ethics is your own personal decision.

That attitude would require a law for every single little thing we did.

It's always been held in BC (and perhaps it's different where you are) that hunters don't always require the force of law in order to make good decisions.

And some ethics are universal - like conservation of the wildlife that we hunt and not causing undue harm and suffereing to an animal. We can all pretty much agree as hunters that this is a fundimental underlying principle of hunting - we don't cause harm to the herds that we don't have to and we don't cause more pain, suffering or death than we have to.

For example - there is no law saying that you should try not to wound an animal when you can kill it outright .. but we all know that to be a basic tenant of hunting.

In this case, while not illegal the actions the woman took are not in keeping with those basic tenants of hunting. It would have been a better choice to kill the calf.

As i said earlier - I don't know ALL the details and what went thru the woman's mind but there's little doubt that based on the information provided she had a better choice available to her. There's certanly no harm in discussing that.

Getting somewhat back to the topic, when Moose Hunter said he and his buddy went out and took care of the calf, did he mean that he ent out and shot it? I think we are all assuming that he did.

If he did, did he have a valid tag? I read through this whole sorry thread and I couldn't find it anywhere (mind you, you get a little dumber after reading the whole thing, so maybe I goofed):D

He doesn't mention anywhere that he had a valid tag to go out and blast the calf, just that him and his buddy got the calf the next day. I am curious also as to whether he got the "right calf".
