Another custom 6xc!

Actually the mags are so modified they won't fit in an M14 any more so no 10 round rule to worry about.
Bill Crosby chambered her and myself and GrensVegter did the rest including bedding(liquid steel) and the custom mag system.
We recently got a new lathe at the shop so in the future we will be able to chamber them ourselves.Billy does do a fantastic job though!

Actually not true. A magazine - regardless of its present configuration - designed for a semi is and always will be limited to use with 5 rounds. (except 22 and pistol).

It is picking fly schitt out of pepper, but something to watch out for.

Wow. If you don't mind me asking; where is that?

I didn't know that you could you shoot across the gravel roads, unless it is your private property.

And I'll be testing it here! ;)

The mag is actually a modified AIA mag that will no longer fit the aia or m14 . It has a new base that is held in place with cap screws so there is something to grip on when you pull it out(it's a tight fit no wobble to ensure reliable feeding). Plus the feed lips have been reshaped.

Well there we have it from the horses mouth!

I'm curious Ian, would you pick the XC over the SLR?

Hmmmmmm.

Well, that's a good question. The 6XC is a proven performer and has a number of titles to its name. It has its Achilles heel in brass and dies. (Expensive and nearly proprietary)

The SLR has all the attributes of what a really good 6mm/115 combination should have including properly fitting Lapua brass, BUT of course you have to form them. The dies - as far as I know - are available only from Robert Whitley, but I'm not sure.

In the end I am not quantitatively sure that one favours the other. I will let a few others work out the bugs and maybe give it a try. I was one of the first in line to try a 6X47 Lapua, and that was a complete waste of time for me. I'll let others do the R&D on the SLR for now.

For now, Yes, I would do a 6XC over an SLR.

Obtunded did you ever get Rl 17 to work with the 115s in the 6xc?
I know German Salizar had some positive results and I was wondering if any one duplicated them.
That and I have 2lbs sitting on my shelf. ;)

Try 39.5g of RL17 with Moly or BN DTAC 115's - any primer s/b good.
Works for me and I beat up a 284 using 180's on the weekend with this load. OK, only beat him by 2V bulls but not bad for a little 6mm at 1000 yds - 71-4V out of 75-15V and the wind was around 12 to 28 mph full value from the west
