Another Epps in Southern Ontario ??

I understood what you meant by Eli's. I bought my first rifle from them many years ago, and did'nt realize at the time, that I really overpaid for it. I occasionally look at there website, but its usually so highly priced, I probably have'nt even checked Eli's website out for a year or so. I heard Eli's philosophy is to price high, and haggle. I don't like haggling when I know what its worth. I also don't like paying 20% more for something, just for some free advice that I already know.

I always look at Epps website first, when shopping for a new gun. I rarely find it elsewere for less. If its cheaper somewere else, then its not by much or requires shipping, which equals out the same, but I have to transfer money, then wait 2 weeks, or months if you buy from some place like badger arms, who tell you its in stock, but its really not. I would rather drive 2 hours to epps, and just leave with it.

I just went up there a few weeks ago and bought a ruger american in .270, because it was the only place with one I knew of. I was'nt sure I wanted it, but after friendly service, and shouldering a dozen guns later, I bought it. I was even given a straight answer about it being a better rifle than a more costly remington model 700 sps. If a gun shop tells you a straight answer about a less expensive rifle being better than one thats more money, then it earns my trust, and repeated business for years to come.

When I bought my Tikka from them I did'nt mind spending $20 more than Lebaron's price, because odds are, if I went to Lebaron's, I would of gotten attitude, plus a wasted trip because the caliber I wanted was'nt in stock.... Epps website is always up to date, so I know if they have what I want.

I started this thread along time ago, and I still wish they had a store in SW Ontario.

Two gun shops I frequent. I have never had a negative experience at either.
They are no Epps but they get the job done.

I'm fortunate enough to live within an hours drive of them. When I was looking for some old parts for a 100 year old doublebarrel shotgun they went in the back and brought out an old box for me to root through, I found every part I needed. The same for my 1921 Winchester 94, they had them all.
If you have never been there its worth the trip, its an old store crammed with tons of stuff old and new, its like going back in time to an old fashioned hardware store. Really interesting place to visit.
