Another quick hunt pays off......
Rush home from work, grab my gear and off I go.......
This farm has a small swampy area just in front of me but a big bush to the North. I setup close to the little swampy area in case a coyote was hiding in there but figured percentage wise it would come from the north and that’s exactly what happened. After about 5-6 minutes into the set playing a dying rabbit sound from my ecaller I notice a stump on a little hill in the background. I wasn’t sure if it was truly a stump or possible a coyote. I didn’t want to move (look through the scope) to confirm just in case my movement gives me away. I figure its too far for me to shoot anyway so if it’s a coyote it will eventually move and suspicions will be confirmed. I watched the stump for 30 seconds then lowered the volume on the ecaller and notice my stump to start running toward me. Its soon behind the hill, I place my gun (on my shooting sticks) facing the opening to this field. Another 30 seconds go by before I see it. It clears the debris and has a good look at my ecaller/decoy. With it slightly quartering to me I put the crosshairs on her chest (120 yds out) and let it fly. I see her drop…. The bullet hit her chest (head on) and went out her side (ribs)…. DRT

I was sitting with my back up against that tree right behind me in this pic…

I really like the way you take the time to lay everything out. It let's us experience some of the excitement.

Might I offer one suggestion? Include an aerial view of some sort (hand drawn, map screen capture, etc.) - it would really help to set the stage, especially the wind direction.

That is not going to happen......just try and appreciate the posts for what/how they are...

Great job fratri!

Your hunting stories are pleasure to read, and pictures help to really get the feel for it.

Keep up the good work!

Nice work Frank, mind if I ask your kill count so far this winter? If you keep track? A group of us hunt most Saturday's when the weather is decent only 7 for us so far. Conditions have been crumy lots wind not much snow until recently. Now almost too much snow.

I have shot and killed 5 myself so far this year...6 if you count the one I called in for my buddy last week... I have shot at another 3 more (missed them clean) and probably have called in another 6 or so with no shot taken for whatever reason.... that is not counting a couple of coyotes seen running away (doubles called in unknowingly) after the shot. So as far as coyotes go.... I have seen quite a few, as far as kills...... well missing standing still coyotes doesn't help the count :) .....
Lots of snow starting to accumulate over here too....

Its not that, I am worried about, its the extra work involved. I am sure you can understand that.

That was tongue in cheek. I appreciate the effort you have already put into your postings - like I said, it lets us experience a tiny bit of that excitement. I thought that with the amount of work you put into editing your photos that a square box representing an overhead view with an arrow indicating wind direction would be lickety-split. No matter - I'm not checking out the gift horse's teeth.
