You should make some inquiries about how grizzlies are doing in the Waterton area BMA...The new results, utilizing DNA from hair on rub trees to count individual bears has pretty well blown the top off the old "guess."

I find counting animals fairly tough from an aircraft. As far as population estimates go. From what I have been told. Here in ontario, there aren't enough trappers around nowadays that keep track of all the animals and sign they see on their trap lines, so the only viable way to estimate population numbers is by aircraft.
