Gents:
If I may add a couple of thoughts.
Not that long ago, I had a long telephone conversation with Justin in the Tech Department over at Magpul. While the UBR can be used as a stock in Any AR application, the major thrust was to offer a good balance, firm check weld for use on 16" inch barrel carbines that had heavier profiles, usually longer rails and magnified optics. Mostly what he was talking about is what I consider to be a short rifle, or what others might call a recce carbine. (no sure how to spell that
)
To that end I will share a couple examples that I built, where I think the UBR enhanced the performance of the carbine.
This is one I built for use as a service rifle with a colt 16.1" Hbar profiled chrome lined barrel with a 1-7 twist and a carbine length gas system. A full auto bolt & carrier group along with a H-2 buffer were used to tame the recoil impulse.
The next is one I built as an "All round" very short rifle, that could preform well (perhaps not perfect but well) form CQB to 3-400 meter engagement. The basis for this one was a Noveske 14.5 Afghan upper with Mid weight profile barrel with a 1-7 twist, a mid length gas system, and topped off with a Specter DR 1-4 Calibrated for the M885 ball:
Remember, this is a fantastic product, but in won't the the ticket for ALL application, and you need to keep that in mind when mapping out your builds.
Just food for thought.
