Another " My first AR Build " thread.. (Cadex meets Vltor)

You'll be happy to know then that our parts kits are supplied and are the very same used as one of the companies named above.. (PS, it's not DPMS).

I will take your experience as a glowing reccomendation then. ;)

.. I suppose the problem with not naming your suppliers is people assuming they're widdled out of rock in some third world country.

Let's assume that since we use full auto parts kits that are well priced that they must me made in sufficient quantity to garner that price. How many foreign Select-fire AR manufacturers are there? I'm pretty sure you can see that they're not Norc, Bushmaster or DPMS. Blame the parts if you wish, we'll send replacements; but I guarentee that if we revealed the source and who uses them there'd be a pile of people eating their hats and back-peddling to defend their true loves.

yes correct when you don,t name your suppliers people do get worrred , but i guess it is non of the customers biz where things are made.
Unless the product is promoted as being canadian made.
Im not trying to get a dig in, but just saying the chances of the cadex lower being out of spec is very very ..... very slim.

I just had a supplier tellme the exstrution i want to do will be made in china then shipped over here to be machined.
I told him NFW!!!
But hes trying to tell me that its still canadian because we machined it here....
He is correct but i cant tell my customers its canadian made, id feel bad.
People just simply want to know, its whats adds value to the products.

Dont you mean .750?
a tight gas block is not a bad thing so keep it if you can.
we installed one of ours on a 7icn bbls yesterday it was very tight.

Yes of course. The problem with going form a 10/22 email to a CGN thread on my BB.. not to mention the goldfish attention span.

Some blocks are indeed tight. Companies have to make a product taking into account the plating thickness. Everyone has their own tolerance for this. now take a company that makes one plated part that installs on another plated part and then you double the variance. I guarantee that a Vltor gasblock fits on a Vltor barrel.. a DD block on a DD.. a NEA on a NEA.. etc. The issue with a nitrided barrel is that there is only half the variance and some are tight. Same issue can be experienced if you were to put a 3rd party block on a LWRC or Noveske. Most companies make their parts to be absolutely compliant with their own products.. everyone elses second.

That being said, smoothing brand new parkerizing from the inside of a gas block prior to installation always makes for a smoother install.

Our LPK's are not Canadian made (yet. ;) they will be). They're not US made either. They are however made by the very same company that makes some of the best kits in the world.. and in use by several of the 'other" companies named in this very thread. ...even some of the ones that state on paper "Made in the USA". Because as you just pointed out, where it's made, is not always "where it's made". We're choosing to make our own kits shortly because of the inventory demand on our supplier. We're not a big fish in the pond.

.. again, there's not a pile of 3rd world bottom of the barrel companies making full auto parts kits on kindness and rainbows in stead of volume.

It's also not unusual for OEM Manufacturers (ie all) to ask for 3rd party assemblies that are purchased in sufficient volume to be rebranded with their own name. We paid for that ability, why would we just give it away? In fact there are a few 'major' rifle manufacturers that shop their rifles with parts we made for them. ;)

That's great to hear that your going to make them. In canada

That looks incredible.

I am glad you mentioned the fit problems. I had a similar fit happen to me.
I got the Cadex lower in from OST, but forgot to get the LPK at the same time.
Later I got an Armalite LPK with a two stage trigger.
The Armalite LPK has a very nice finish but it seems like a heavy coat painting almost like a bakelight finish or appearance.
Everything went together easily except for the 'L' shaped magazine catch bar, on the left side of the mag housing.
That extra 'thousanths' because of the thick coat finish didn't allow the mag catch bar to actually fit in the housing.

Building this on my kitchen table and being sober, naturally I decided I would fight this issue until I solved it. I even contemplated sanding or grinding.

Eventually, I just swapped it out with another magazine catch bar from another AR build and parts maker, and it fit in no problem.
Had I been drinking beer among friends while building this, this solution would have naturally presented itself immediately.

1. End result, trial fit the parts as not everything matches.;)
2. Always work in the company of good friends and beer.:)

Must have been Armalites 3rd-world parts kit. Afterall I'm told that lower is "perfection". ;)

All kidding aside, the problem with the AR platform is that there is a multitude of manufacturers, making a multitude of parts and people have the ability to now pick and choose down to the minor component what goes into their rifles. Along the line, two parts aren't going to jive. The specs state a range.. If one manufacturer is at the high end and another at the low end there may be an issue with mixing components. I think most manufacturers concern first and foremost is that 'their' parts all work together.

Bingo.

I think we might put a disclaimer on the Cadex lowers, to say we only recommend high end lower parts kits like Daniel Defense for the lower.

FWIW I had absolutely zero problems installing a DD LPK into a Armalite lower. Over 50% of my build is DD / LMT. No substitution for quality when it comes to putting an explosive in your hands, IMO.

That should be a disclaimer across the entire board... If you're building a high end AR, stick to well known high end manufacturers.

Perhaps this is just common sense though, or atleast it should be... ;)

Thanks guys.

Ok I managed to slide the gas block on with minimum amount of damage :) lubrication is the key.. :) Waiting for few more parts before taking it to the range. Still looking for gas tube...
