Another " My first AR Build " thread.. (Cadex meets Vltor)

Well sounds like NEA has narrowed it down to either Armalite or RRA as thier LPK supplier. I am gonna guess it is Armalite based on the fact that lawn gnome had problems with thier parts in a Cadex lower too. But we know the DD kit will fit the Cadex as thats what OST uses and others have said it will fit too. Good info to know in case I decide on the Cadex lower for my first build. Gotta love CGN for that. It makes it a lot easier for inexperienced builders like myself. Its good to see all the Canadian made parts too. Keep up the good work Cadex and NEA. O, NEA and OST bickering on a public forum might not be the best way to promote your companies. Just a thought. Sounds like there is a good chance both of your products could be fine yet just at other ends of spec maybe? Thats probably why ATRS wont sell thier lower by itself to avoid this problem. Now that this is know maybe throw a warning up? Or, why not just recommend a parts kit to go with whatever lower you sell? Nice build Dimitri let us know how she shoots.

Ok, so i got some range time with this beast.. :)

it worked flawlessly, i put about 200 rounds, no problems what so ever. I was impressed with the accuracy at 60 yards.. solid 1-1.5" groups all day long. Although at a 100 yards groups opened up to 3-3.5", i believe there is still a lot of room for improvement on my part... Practice, practice, practice :) Here are some pics..

60 yards 8rd. group:

and these are two 5rd groups at 100 yards. ( :) it was pretty cold, hands were shaking.. :) )

Our barrels are exactly .750 at the gas block.

With respect, the diameter of the barrel where the gas block sits should not be 'exactly' .750". As per the M16 and M4 barrel blueprints it is -.0007-.0017 below nominal.
M16 = .6233"-.6243"
M4 = .7483-".7493"
Not to say the way you have done it is 'wrong', just that gas blocks made to fit 'mil-spec' barrels may not fit properly.

what type of ammo were you shooting? I am sure with some quality ammo or hand loads those groups will tighten up:)

Nice looking setup Dmitri, cant wait to find a bcg and barrel to complete my parts list and begin my build.

We should have some Daniel Defense BCG's arriving this week. S&J Barrels towards the end of the month I think.

been checking the site daily for the bcg, probably gonna have the barrel made as I cant find one anywahere, been looking for over a month.

So I received the last piece of the puzzle.. The KAC angled iron sights, and realized that the rear sight will not work with MUR-1 upper (unless I change to slab side) and a front sight doesn't fit the YHM Dimond series hand guard ... That sucks..
