another take on a BP scattergun

really not the best idea ive seen him come up with but if you had some hulls that melted through the walls and not useable any other way and you had primers,BP,some sort of wading meteral and shot then i guess you could shoot

i just got my hands on a single shot pinfire that i may end up making a adapter for that turns it into a muzzleloader of some sort (maybe with a rifled barrel who knows)

Far to much fuss and stuff to consider practical at all. Makes no sense when you can load up some shells put them in your pocket and shoot. He is partialy loading from the front, but it is hardly a muzzle loader. Another issue is shooting that steel shot, not to smart there.

Why not just reload the shell with black powder? You can use black powder in almost any shell.

its more a after SHTF or in a long turm sustainability if your shells have been used to the point where they melt through(common thing with BP or pyrodex) then you still have a way of using your gun steel shot thing well dont matter much its a modern gun with a open choke id use small rocks if i had too

In the original posting clip, he loads a primed gun from the front... kinda dumb unless it was a true survival situation.

as long as it was pointed away should have not been a problem remember he's showing something that would be used in a survival situation or long turm self reliance situation

the better idea is brass shells with pistol primers for SHTF or long turm self reliance why pistol primers can be reloaded with paper cap gun caps or the tips of white strike anywhere matches you could try with .209 primers and i have but its alot harder and a sulfurless BP can be made from willow charcoal and potassium nitrate(can be made from any soil that contains decaying plant life or animal carcass's) or matchheads can be used as powder(make sure all the white tip is off)

Where are you going to get primers from? I know I'm going to run out of primers long before I run out of spent shells. I've had high quality shells last through 3 or 4 reloading with true black powder (brass shells on the other hand will last forever).

Just seems like a good way to blow yourself.

read my last coment about reloading primers its a bit on the slow side but for a time where there is not way of getting the supplys you need its possable to reload a primer even a .209 but these are the hardest

but say you have 25 hulls or your working off of what you can find and have primers, powder, some kind of perjectile/perjectiles then you have a way of getting your self food this philosophy go's back to the time of the flintlock smooth bore if you had powder you had the means of shooting and putting food on the table
