Any 1761 owners here, now that it's been out awhile.what are your thoughts on it(minus the plastic trigger guard which is a head scratcher on an otherwise excellent craftsmanship)one thing that has really grabbed my attention is the bolt, it is a work of art as far as I see.in all weather the bolts roller system is smooth sailing. It is the best bolt action I have ever used in rimfire.it is a short sweet up back and forward motion that is effortless. I don't like the sporter wood stock it's to danm nice to truck through the muskeg shooting chickens while the moose sleep.also the 5 round mags need a 10 round affordable option.side by side with the vudoo I don't notice an accuracy difference with the ammo each likes.the vudoo seems to shoot a multitude of ammo consistently better but not sure.the vudoo is more of a pleasure on a bench compared to the 1761 sporter.but the sporter is bushwackers delight.

Absolutley love mine, definitely on the no sell list.

I have the 1761 thumbhole, great balance for offhand shooting. Runs very well with BBM and the SK fodder and I recently tried some ELEY Match that averages in the high .3's for 5, 5 round groups. Recently shoot a 50m benchrest and scored 150 4x.

I have to agree on the plastic trigger guard, there should be no plastic on a gun of this price and caliber. ( I have the aluminum upgrade)

It's a great rifle, best trigger and bolt to date out of anschutz other than the 54.18 or maybe a fortner straight pull.
Didn't like the hanging down magazine so I modified mine.
Cut the magazine follower down by half - remove the two piece plastic, clipped a bit off the spring and slid on a old anschutz magazine floor plate to the bottom and viola! a perfectly cycling magazine that is flush with the stock, and still works beautifully with the new magazine release style.
For the bolt itself if you are having any FTE/FTC you can adjust the ejector with a small torex and loc tight it once you find the magical spot for perfect ejection.
All in all I like the 1761, but my heart rests on the 1710 DKL
For the stock I would choose thumbhole or the new monte carlo stock coming. (Seems to be the same as the Monte Carlo on the 1712)

4,070 rounds on this one as at yesterday - Absolutely faultless as received.
Our range has been closed down for an extended period and I've just returned from medical treatment in a capital city.
First time I've shot this rifle in ages but here's 125 rounds using 5 types of SK ammo at 50 meters outdoors in the wind. Circles are 12MM OD. I found the Meopta while I was away and was quite impressed with this set up first time out.
I have some nice 54's sitting in the safe but they haven't been used much since I bought the 1761 - Simply one of the best all round 22's I've owned to date.

I had one, sold it, came to regret it and thinking of getting another one. But that is a regular cycle for me...
It is certainly a high quality rifle.

I agree. Just ordered a MSR today fr Nordic. We held a 22 BR 50yd match yesterday. The top 3 shooters shot 500's. 1st was a Vudoo, followed by an Annie BR, then a Sporter 1761 using a bipod. I'd say that was pretty good. A second 1761 was 5th. Sixteen shooters in this race on a cold 2C day. A lot of good fun. There are now 4 or 5 guys with 1761's in this area. Most plan to shoot in a Sporter class.

Just out of curiousity was the Vudoo yours? On another front, very nice shooting Allan. Consistent very nice groups and with wind to boot is more than awesome!!! KUDOS PS I hope all is good for you!

PS I hope all is good for you!

Thanks, mate - I live in the bush & have been fighting a cancer diagnosis for some time - Have to travel a LONG way for treatment so shooting when the opportunity arises is a great stress reliever!

On a brighter note, I do have a couple of Vudoos in my collection. I could see the potential in these 1761's when they were first advertised. I had one of the first to hit Aus and have posted here re some of the mods I've done to it. Given the right ammo, this rifle will outshoot both the Gen 2 & Gen 3 Vudoos (and every other 22 I have here at the moment). They are not the prettiest rim fire out there but have all the basics to build something that will run with the best.
Cheers,
Allan.

Yes, it was my Vudoo. Shot it using SKLong Range ammo. It gave me 25x's. A good day for an old man, lol.

I sincerely hope that all goes in your favour. I enjoy reading your posts and its always positive and upbeat. I wish you were more easily accessible for a little visit from some other Gunnuts

Yes, echoing Longstud's comments as well. Wishing you full recovery, Allan, and lots of enjoyable range time.
I see Anschutz is bringing out a new Monte Carlo stock for the 1761. I might just 'need' one.

Well maybe we should gather a few East Coast lads and a few Inlanders and take a flight to pay our Outback buddy a visit. Shame if it would line up with some friendly competition! Best part is Allan would have to supply the guns and ammo. Best not beat the host with his own guns haha. Not that it would likely happen after looking at his prowess with firearms!!!

LOL!!! My best days behind a gun are long gone but that doesn't stop me trying to improve. These days, I think I have just as much satisfaction assembling a rifle as I do in actually shooting it.

I think I've mentioned it previously but have no shame in admitting that my wife is the better shot - She has a well deserved reputation in the local shooting community.
